Constipation?

Poppy has now not poo'd for four days, since she exploded in her nappy (and out of it!) during her first pool visit.

She seems fine, quite happy and comfortable, so i'm guessing she's not constipated. Does this sound normal? She used to poo every day but wonder if the heat of a growth spurt meant she had no waste?

Never thought i'd say it but i kind of miss those yellow nappies...

Hi kate, i replied to your post in the other forum. I'd honestly not worry about it, as i said Ellis only poohs once a week and has done since about 7 weeks. I was told at the time because like you i was a bit concerned that it was totally normal and that bf babies often go for prolonged periods without a poo. Its quite rare for a bf baby to become constipated too-so i was told. I was advised to gently rub her tummy in a clockwise direction if i was concerned as this could help the digestion so you could try that, but if she's happy and there are plenty of wet nappies i'd try not to be too worried. I do understand your concern though as she's been regular for all that time.

If she's on no other food then a BF baby doesnt need to poo very often because there is so little waste as your body is making what your baby needs You will know when your LO is constipated they will look unhappy and go red alot 'trying' to go (least this is my experience)
