I have been constipated for a couple of days now, is there anything i can take? not into making home remedies though!

I know the usual eat loads of fibre etc so will be off to buy some bananas etc at lunch!

Yeah bananas are good and a couple handfuls of all bran cereal each day really helps aswell, you can get cinnamon flavour which isn't as dry.
I'm under the impression we can take the powder "fibre sure" as well, its flavourless and you just add it to water. Check the packet though, i' pretty sure its safe because I'm going to buy some today as I keep suffering from the same problem.
I hope your bowels sort themselves out soon, and mine too, :) xxxx

yeh...making myself have oat flakes at work everyday for breakfast...not gorgeous tasting but working for me!

I've got it quite badly at the moment and even though I've been eating loads of fibre it's not helped so I've just taken milk of magnesia which is supposed to be good.

I have the same problem. I used Metamusil once, I know I should use it everyday. While everyone is on this subject, and sorry if TMI, but does anyone know what we can use as stool softners as well?

Peas are supposed to be real good.
I eat weetabix everyday and have only had a few times when ive been bad.
Chocolate raisins always do the trick for me too!!!

OJ and/or applejuice is my usual constipation fixer-upper... :)

But I also take Metamucil everyday in morning and night. My doc called it a 'bulking agent' and actually works to regulate constipation AND/OR diarreah (which has been my general problem throughout this pregnancy).

Hello hun.. I suffered from constipation on and off with my pregnancy.. Obviously nothing doctor can give you.. Now id avoid banana's as i was told they would make me worse..........Try Beans, whole grain bread, bran cereals, brussel sprouts, asparagus, carrots, cabbage, apples, peaches, raspberries, tangerines, kidney beans, weetabix, nuts, prunes, drink plenty of water, pears... These were what doctor told me to have..... He also told me to cut down on things like Ice cream, pizza's, ready made meals, cheese, milk Processed foods.... Hope this helps some xxxxxxxx hugs xxxxxxx

I eat dried prunes while watching tv and that usually does the trick. Also fresh young coconut juice. Another thing that has also helped in the past was dried apricots.

My friend (she's 28wks) suggested I use frozen fruit juice concentrate (any flavor) and use apple juice to make it instead of water. She said it's super yummy and works really fast. I personally find that a glass of OJ in the morning helps things along.

I eat dried prunnes too, it works for me and i try to drink water whilst eating as well.
