My doctor FINALLY gave the OK to go see a fertility specialist after the last chemical pregnancy. I am so happy to have someone FINALLY takeme seriously about TTC.

So, those who have been through this already, how does this work exactly?

I have already had most of the blood work done, thyroid, petuitary, etc...
I have already been tempting/opk testing (the paperwork said they want that for 2 months to see if I O, but since I have been doing it will I still have to wait? I know they want to do DH sperm count and HSG test right away, and I am glad for that since I want so much to rule out those issues...

Should I print my FertilityFriend charts out for the doc when I go? Bring my OPK sticks with me? Will they think im a nut job if I do that?

Thanks

No advice for you but wanted to wish you good luck with your appointment :hugs:

Oh My... only 14 more days for you!!! You must be getting soooooo excited!!!!

I have never seen a fertility specialist, only an OB/GYN, but I would bring the fertility friend stuff...and just let him know you have it if he wants to see it. Good luck and keep us posted.

Take everything you've got, they will look at it if they want to. First consult is usually just formality. We found the nurses at the clinic were far more knowledgable and helpful than the consultant. He told us we would have to wait a year for donor sperm, started treatment 5 weeks later!
Good luck

Oh that's good to know! I have actually seen this fertility doctor once already... kind of a fluke.. She was filling in as an OB while my doc was out of town and was kinda helpfull in giving him the push for the referral... I *think* my doctor is one of these *nature* vs *science* docs because he has always said "just keep trying naturally, I see no reason you can't conceive" yet failed to order an further testing. We shall see how it all goes, Im just so anxious to get the ball rolling, no matter what the prognosis is.

Hello

Can't really comment on the US system but my experience was very positive. HAd blood tests on days 1 and 21, then hubbie had the sperm test. All came back "normal" although I don't know what they were even checking for. I'm 31 and have v irregular periods, 28 - 40 days and had been trying for a year so we got referred to the clinic. They didn't ask much or ask to see any info, the consultant just inferred from my irregular periods and the fact that they only lasted for 2 days max that I wasn't ovulating. Got prescribed Clomid straight away and am on my first cycle. After 20 months things are starting to happen and its such a reilef to know what's happening!

Good luck 1

Yeah, my doc thinks I don't O every cycle.. but since I have had 4 known (but failed) pregnancies, he suspects DHs spermies are ok and that I at least O at some times... I predict clomid in my near future too! ***Good Luck****

good luck hun, i took my charts to the specialist and he didn't wanna see them but my GP did before i got to the specialist. The specialist was more interested in all the test results etc

I figure they would want to start fresh with their own charts and such, but reading that they want me charting and OPKing for 2-3 MONTHS to figure out my cycle seems like SOOOOOO long when I have all that already!!! Thanks for the replies!
