Contacts Or Glasses?

What brand of contacts does everyone use? I use the Acuvue Oasys. Very comfortable.

I have a very strong prescription though.... -8.50 in one eye and -7.50 in the other. So, blind as a bat. :dohh:

I wear glasses - have done since 5 so seems strange not to! I tried contacts and even had the chance to get them at a reduced price as I worked in an opticians but didn't enjoy wearing them. Probably cos I am so used to wearing glasses. There are some really nice glasses now, whereas before they used to be a bit untrendy. But they have gone up in the fashion stakes and celebs even wear fake ones LOL!#
mY OH on the other hand has 20/20..grr!

not sure what the brand is called but I get them delivered every 3 months and its £15 per month direct debit, from specsavers:thumbup:

^^ oh that's great! I spend about $200 for a year's supply.

DH & I wear glasses all the time. I would love to wear contacts, but it seems every time I do, I get eye infections :(

I'm probably split 50/50 on wearing my contacts and glasses.

Girls in glasses are hot.

i wear contacts because glasses give me headache. i am actually looking into laser correction as we speak because i finally got cleared to do it!!! :happydance:

my script isn't too too bad. i'm -4.25 in my left and -3.25 in my right i think.

I so wish I could get laser surgery! Unfortunately, I'm not a candidate for it. I have lattice degeneration of my retinas and my retina's are also very thin so I run a high risk of having them detach. Plus, my eyes get a little worse each year so I think you have to have stable eyes beforehand.

awww, chris, i'm sorry :(

i wasn't one until just recently because my pupils are too big, but i guess the procedure has been improved enough that that's not an issue anymore!

oh, and we're neighbors! i see you're in new york! i'm in ct!!

Ah that's okay. I'm so used to my contacts and glasses that it doesn't really phase me at all.

YAY for a neighbor!! :happydance: Where in CT are you?

i'm right smack in the middle! about 20 minutes south of hartford in a tiny village called east berlin... and guess what!?! my neighbor is our idiot!!:dohh::haha:

where abouts in new york are you?

I'm in Stormville (about 20 minutes from Danbury, CT) We moved up here about 6 years ago. I'm originally from Yonkers and DH from Mamaroneck.

I always had perfect eyesight up until last year. Don't know what happened haha. I am short sighted and at the moment I only wear my glasses for driving and watching the T.V. But I have noticed my eyesight getting worse recently and even when I'm out and about walking I cant see very far and everything is very blurry (peoples faces, writing on shop signs) So I have booked in for another eye test on Wednesday to see if anything's changed. I've also had Eye Floaters ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye_floater ) since I was about 9 years old and recently they have got worse too! xx

I get floaters too, they're so annoying sometimes! I tend to notice them alot more when I'm in bright sunshine.

Yeah they're more noticable in bright lighting. And when looking at the laptop screen. I can see them right now. SO irritating xx

I was the same until yesterday but just moved to Boots. Now it is £17 a month but they include an eye test every year and all solutions you need (extra at Specsavers) and from 5 October you get a different Advantage card that gives you 10% off in Boots!! So it will actually save me money.

Chris my eyes are as bad as yours. I'm -8 and -7.50! So blind as a bat!!! Asked my optician about laser surgery and he said it isn't safe enough yet and not to go for it until the time I never see an optician wearing glasses!

 Too funny! Not that I'm glad you have bad eyes too but it's nice to have company in the blindness department. :hugs:

Glasses. I have an astigmatism and other eye problems. Just waiting for a new pair now. I can't believe how much lens thinning costs!!! But I'll pay anything not to have jam jar glasses

I have astigmatism too. The contacts that are made especially for astigmatism don't work for me, unfortunately. So, my eyesight isn't as sharp as it could be.
