cord ties

anyone planning on using something other than the plastic cord ties the mw provides? im planning on buying some embroidery thread and pleating it and using that as a cord tie

I will be but my MWs have said that it goes against NHS guidelines, that it is at my own risk and I will have to put it on myself. I've said that's fine as from what I've read, their fear that it wont prevent bleeding does not relate to placentas which have been left until they have finished pulsating and have gone white and hard as there is no actual need to clamp at all. The placenta will constrict the vessels itself

im thinking about it lol my boys both kept their cords for about a week so it would be nice to not have the plastic clamp
