i have a 15 week old baby. We have a chicco next 2 me crib for him which he quite likes. He's just started wiggling around lots and wedges himself At an angle. Now my concern is the raised bit that goes next to my bed and him getting stuck on it. (I heard a baby died in one of the other makes of cosleep cribs) does everyone with these type of cribs have the side nearest bed down at night?at the moment I have a blanket tucked over the slightly raised bit next to my bed so he cant get stuck but I worry how safe this is now he's bigger and moving about. Should I put the side up?
Also if he wedges himself against the other other side of the cot as it has no Air holes will he be ok?or should I just put him in a cot now?hes a big baby and I know will be too long for it by 6 months. Any help would be. Great

I don't know anything about this particular brand, but to be safest, baby should be in something that he can't press his face up against that is solid, without air holes/mesh. If the side is solid, yes, I'd be concerned about that and I'd find a way to try to make it so there is no side/lip there. Can you take that side bit off? Is there a way to make it so the mattress is flush against your bed with no lip or bit of mattress he could roll against? We used an IKEA cot, took the side off completely and then drilled holes to make it exactly the right height for our bed and then lined the gap between the two mattresses with a rolled up towel, so that there was no lip or solid side at all or any gap between the mattresses. We mostly bedshared anyway, but we used the cot like this for about a year. Alternatively, if you can't do that, you could bedshare if you have space to do it safely, or yes, move him to his own room.

I have it so the lip is at the same height as the mattress. Also on the other side its inflexible enough that baby wouldn't be able to be smothered by it.

Thanks for your help. I have the crib the same height as our mattress but still worry he could get stuck on it if he keeps wedging himself a

I have the exact same co-sleeper and it's the best buy I have ever made! I love having my baby so close to me but not worry about rolling over onto her.

She's 18 weeks and she does wriggle around too and she ends up with her face on that raised bit, so like you I have put a thick blanket around it so at least it's soft if she lays on it. I make sure everything is tucked in nicely but sometimes she does get in a weird angle and I have to turn her round.

I think it's quite safe though I was never worried. The only thing that makes me think is that baby might be getting ready to go into her crib soon, as she has just started spreading her legs and arms onto our matress during the night! Hahaha!

We didn't choose a co-sleep bed for this reason. Instead we went with the HALO Bassinest Swivel Sleeper Bassinet. It's a bassinet that swivels right over your bed to have the co-sleeping effect. But the top locks so that LO can't get out. We kept him in their until the morning we woke up and he had rolled onto his tummy, then he went into his cot, in his own room.

If you're really worried about him getting into the corner, I'd move him to his cot.
