Could I have caused this to happen?

Hi Ladies,

I am so confused right now. I was scheduled to have a hysteroscopy and HSG today, but my dr. called last night to tell me the bloodwork from last week came back positive and that i'm pregnant. But since I had started spotted I stopeed taking progesterone and I had a period after my blood test with clots and some tissue (sorry if tmi), so i assumed it was just an abnormal period. Now I feel like maybe if i had kept taking the progesterone, or still acted pregnant (i drank and ate sushi last week) maybe things would be different. I feel awful..not only could i have miscarried for the 3rd time, but now my HSG is delayed another month... :(

Sweetie, I have no doubt that if that is what happened there is absolutley nothing you could have done to prevent it. There are many many people who drink, smoke and/or take drugs throughout their pregnancy and still carry to term. It isn't in any way fair and clearly they do not have their baby's interests at heart but I can almost promise that having some sushi and a couple of drinks during early pregnancy would not be the reason for you to have an early miscarriage.

I had an early miscarriage last month and if you analyse everything you've done you can drive yourself crazy thinking it's your fault but as frustrating and sad as it is, it obviously just wasn't meant to be.

I'm really sorry for the loss and for the set back to your dates. :hugs:

chances are very very low that the drop in progesterone had any effect hon. People get pregnant on the pill and then stop it, and everything is fine. If the pregnancy was going to work, your body would be making enough progesterone on its own for this not to be a factor. And the drinking and sushi stuff, lots of women do that in pregnancy and everything is fine.

I'm so sorry for your loss *hugs* please dont blame yourself, it isnt your fault

Dear Keeping Faith,
I stopped taking progesterone after getting a BFN last month, which my dr. said after the weekend that I probably took the test too early because my cycle extended on clomid. She said, "don't stop taking progesterone until your period arrives"
I felt heartbroken that I may have messed up my chance to be pregnant.
After many tears, I finally came to the place that my peanut isn't going to come until he/she is ready and the perfect egg and sperm are available for him/her. I do believe in co-creation, that our "children to be" are also deciding when is the right time to arrive. It may sound goofy, but it is somehow very calming to me as I try to control too much, to remind myself that larger forces are involved and that in the end, everything will work out exactly as it should. I hope you find some peace in these thoughts or find your own peaceful thoughts very soon. Many hugs xxx

So sorry to hear that you have had to go through this. Is there a possibility that you are still pg? Can you have another blood test done today?

Best wishes for you.
:hugs2:

oh hun :hugs: I don't know what to say - but you're in my thoughts xx

Hugs keeping faith
It is very unlikely that stopping the progesterone, or eating sushi or anything else you may have done caused this.
xx

Thanks ladies for all your support. My doctor just called and confirmed that I did have another miscarriage which now puts me at 3 in a row. I feel like such a failure as a wife. I just want to be a mother...:(

You shouldn't feel like a failure hun because your not. You will have your friends and family all around you helping you to get through this and you will! My thoughts are with you :hugs: xx
