Hi,

My baby Is just over 5weeks old and is having trouble passing wind, ever since he was born he has had this trouble and i thought it was just constipation but now i am thinking it's something more serious, I recently changed his milk to aptimal comfort which he seems to burp more when i wind him after a feed ( so i guess it's helping a bit) but i am realy worried that just changing his milk isnt helping and he needs something else to help him realease his wind

He tends to pull his legs up to his belly and crys/screams it sometimes sounds as if he is straining, and clentches his fists and when he does this he goes abit red, he also farts quite abit but it still seems if he isnt getting it all out and he has started spitting up milk and sometimes being sick (only a bit) after a feed, he has hiccups everyday littrally!, he never wants me to put him down and he has started to not sleep wel in the evenings.... i asked my Hv and she just he crys/screams told me this is normal, i think that was a load of rubbish! she didnt really give me much advice,

i feel like i dont know what to do to help him and it's horrible to see or even think he is in pain, i have been told he could have colic or silent reflux but as he still is very keen to eat and he doesnt cry for hours on end i was told he may not..but then i keep thinking what is actually wrong with him..??

I am going to take him to the baby clinic tomorrow morning and i also have an appointment for his to see the GP, however i know how rubbish my GP can be so i would be really grateful if someone else has experienced any of these symptoms with their LO and does it sound like my LO may have colic or acid reflux

Thank you all inadvance..x

My LO does not have the symptoms you describe (except painful passing of wind) but i have read other peoples experiences on BnB and it does sound like reflux.

The only advice i can give you is to go to your GP fully armed with information (if he is crap) as to why you would like some action

Does he cry after/during feeds?
Is he fussy with the bottle?

My LO has silent acid reflux, he has to have infant gaviscon in his milk

It does sound like reflux and if u say he doesnt cry for hrs on end at a certain time every night then it doesnt sound like colic.

My LO was on apt comfort but to be honest it made him worse, really runny poo (sorry tmi) and really bad smelly wind lol xxxxxxxxx

Hope u get LO sorted xxxxxxx

Hi hun, everyones experiences are different and what suits one baby doesnt neccesarily suit another but I will share mine. My son is 6 weeks old and we have moved him onto Aptamil Comfort - he had the same symptoms you described. I can only say from my experience I would stick with it - I had the same concerns as you at first but having spoke to people on here I stuck with it and 4 weeks on it's all settled down now. My lo had really bad sickness (even admitted into the childrens it was that bad), bad colic and constipation - he now has little if not none of the above. His trumps and poo are still killers but are getting better (as people on here assured me they would). The other thing that I believe has made a huge impact on my son is we now exclusively use haberman feeder teats. They are fantastic and really, really work. I think the combination of the Comfort and the teats have worked to make my lo a happy littlt boy!
Hope this helps a little hun, good luck!
