As the title says really.

When my little girl was born I had all intended using Cow and Gate stage 1 as I found it fine with DS. But when I brought her home just a short while after being born she was only taking about an ounce every 6 hours, which although I know isn't an issue she was gipping and being sick quite a bit right after. In the end I figured it 'might' be the milk so before she got worse or it didnt agree I figured I'd try comfort and see how that did her. Well, to be honest there was little change. When the midwives came the next day I mentioned it to them and they said the sick and gipping sounded like mucus. Next time she did it I paid more attention to the sick rather than just presuming it was milk and sniffed it. Quite rightly it wasn't milk at all.........

Being my 3rd baby I feel rather stupid now but I don't recall a mucusy baby before...

Anyway, she is now doing much better and even at 2 days old she is progressing well and is now averaging almost 2oz every 3.5-4 hours. But I would like to get her back onto stage 1 Cow and Gate rather than the comfort as she obviously doesn't need it and to be fair, I can't really afford to keep paying for it. I don't want to keep messing with her milk so would like to get it done with rather than messing about and then she can just stay on the one milk. I thought about when she goes up to 3oz to add the 3rd scoop form a stage 1 tin, would that work?

Being a special sort of milk I have no idea...

Was hoping one/some of you might be able to help me out?

Thank you in advance....

Pretty sure you can just swap back straight away. Just watch out for constipation :flower:

Hmmm, i didn't want to waste the tin though really, it was dear, and she has only been once since she came home too....

Tbh, I started my dd on comfort milk for exactly those reasons. She was colicky and sicky and miserable. Every time I tried to change back (4 months and 7 months) she got a sore tummy and was very windy again. In the end I stuck with it, I know it's expensive but it saved her being unsettled.

You can swap straight over but you can mix it too, completely up to you.

Thank you. She would appear to have just upped to 3oz as of today so I think i will start by adding the 3rd scoop as stage 1 and see how she goes. I may have rushed in changing her as she did bring up only mucus and she wasn't fidgity or anything, and it was also the same day she was born/came home. I think i just wanted to rule anything out before it progressed and also without messing about even more with milk once she became established. She certainly didn't seem to be acting in pain and parts with her wind well.

I will however keep an eye on her and should symptoms starts to recurr or she does give me reason to believe it was in fact the stage 1 and not the mucus i will most definately leave her on it. A few quid is nothing in comparison to her comfort.

Thank you for your reply hun xx
