my son is 9 months old and i have been giving him weetabix with cows milk for breakfast since he was about 7 months- it had never occured to me that i shouldnt. he still drinks at least 15/16oz in two bottles a day and i use formula milk in some cooking etc so he definately has the daily amount of formula. but one of my friends told me the other day that he shouldnt be having cows milk on cereal and started going on about chrones disease which scared me a bit? he has about 2oz on it i guess?

anyone else give their under 1's cows milk? he loves it and certainly hasnt shown any signs of allergy.

Yes. She never has straight milk but she has cheese, cottage cheese, yoghurt, shares her daddy's porridge which is made with cows milk. I didn't even know it was supposed to be an issue  but it hasn't been for us and I won't be changing anything.

thanks. no i dont give him straight milk in a bottle or milk but he always has it straight from the fridge on his weetabix, im happy to carry on like this as hes happy but just checking it wasnt a major issue x

In the UK cows milk on cerial and in cooking is fine from 6 months.

Yep fine from 6+ months months on cereal etc. Just should be given as a drink til 1+ years. We have given him some on cereal but he prefers his cereal with yogurt lol.

I put cows milk on her cereal and in cooking. I read the reason they say no cows milk before one is because they dont want people to give up using formula as it is full of the nutrients they need that cows milk doesnt have but its ok in small quantities in cooking and cereals, so long as the formula is given in bottles.
