Crafts for Baby and Nursery

I have the summer holidays coming up (I work in a school) and also I plan on starting my maternity leave at 34 weeks (mid-late November) so I have a lot of spare time coming up and with this being my first I won't have little feet to chase around to keep me busy (unless you count those of my dog who is always up to some kind of mischief). I have decided to start a pinterest board of crafts I want to try.

I have decided to start knitting a baby blanket but I have such a short attention span and I like instant satisfaction so I am going to knit squares (cast on 25, knit 45 rows) of different colours (yellow, white, grey, green) and then stitch them all together.

I also have a jar full of buttons so I am going to buy a glue gun when I get paid and make a 3D button art of a hot air balloon and also make a baby's feet one I saw for my fiances cousin who is having a little boy in November. When we find out whether I'm team :blue: or :pink: and once OH and I have had a fight to the death over the name choice, I'll make one for our nursery too.

OH's mum is very crafty. She is already knitting a set of booties, cardigan and blanket for us and has told us she wants to make us an afghan if we find a cross stitch pattern we like. We also said if we have a girl she is going to sew us a mother-daughter pair of bunny rabbit teddies.

My mum and I are going to dig out my old sewing machine and (with the help of OH's grandma who is a seamstress) try to sew a quilt with some of my old baby clothes and my fiances old scouts uniform and stuff.

Anyone else got any crafty ideas ?
I'd love to see what other people have made !

When my lb was born a made a cross stitch picture for.his bedroom.and a quilt out.of all.of his baby grows and vests with his name and date of birth on it. Before my LG is here I am.making her name in bunting in pink fabrics I have been.given and hanging.it around her crib. I love making.little things for them good look with ur craft plans

Im doin the exact same thing blanket with squares its the first time ive knitted and tbf im really enjoying it but due to being busy with dd1 and dd2 i knitt at night when they are in bed lol my mother in law is old school and knitts all the time i buy her patterns for the girls and she knitts the most beautiful cardigans, she knitting the baby and all in one suit with aran wool and i cant wait till its done ive brought a few patterns fir the baby i want to try myself

OH thinks im off my head but what u pay for cardigans for the kids its a rip off and i know for a fact they are made in a sweat shop in india and id rather make my own and atleast no other kid will have the same cardigan x

I'm the same as you- summer off then back to school until November. I'm planning on making some bunting to go around the top of the nursery- just different coloured triangles to match the bedding. My mum made bunting for our wedding so I'll be getting some pointers from her!

Hi. For my 1st DD I made a cross stitch birth record. The pic is from my shower so it doesn't have her name or DOB on it yet but I'm proud that I was able to finish it in about 5-6 mos. It's 10x13.

I bought a pattern for this DD but only just started a few stitches in it. It's hard to find the time with my lo running around plus it's summer. I started the first one Dec-May.

DH thinks that she'll understand b/c I'm so busy but I would feel bad. I think the 2nd one always gets cheated somehow. I'm a #2!

Hi. If you're super handy you can always make a mobile (if you're going to be using it)
I got all the pieces from Etsy and got a discount since it wasn't put together. Obviously I didn't put it to music but I love how it came out. All I needed was super glue, some bakers twine and a needle.

What's your pinterest board links? I'd love to see the crafts you've pinned. We're having an October baby so I put some items in my ravelry.com queue ie red sleep sack with some fun red & white toques. We're team yellow so red goes with both boy or girl. I'm knottylassy on Ravelry.com and my pinterest board is here: https://www.pinterest.com/dzigneye/knottylassy

I've just started following you on pinterest. My name is Jossy on there I think. :)

Although we aren't even TTC yet.. I found this I want to make for our future bean when the time comes..

Its crazy. A lot of the things you see for sale on etsy look so easy to make and would be so much cheaper as well !

I am no seamstress. But I made a pillow, curtains, painted the letters of DD name and hung them, crocheted a teddy bear hammock, and of course when she was born, well, at 1 month we bought a keepsake thing and did her hand and footprint.

Never mind the letter in shot with the collage of the hammock those were temporary paper letters. The light sparkly pink letters are the ones that hang on her wall now.

I can't get the hang of crochet...I've tried so many times and watched so many tutorials and I still can't get the hang of it !

I don't blame ya. Crocheting can be really hard. I have been doing it since I was a little girl. All I know is a basic crochet pattern, I had to look up a pattern to do the teddy hammock,
