Lately I have really been craving foods I can't have, and right now it's blue cheese!! My OH is about to get me some hot wings and I really want to bc dressing with it.. Someone talk me down from this, please!

Or.. if you think it's ok to eat, tell me it's ok lol

i honestly would eat the sauce :P but thats just me im sure people will have horror stories but my dr told me to eat things within reason but that i can pretty much eat what i did before i was preggo ... perhaps eat some of the sauce but not too much lol

As long as its pasteurized- I vote for eating it!
I know it might be hard to tell if it comes along with the wings and you don't have the label information but I'd bet that unless the wings are gourmet, the cheese is probably pasteurized.

Thanks, everyone! I'm gonna have a little bit... :p

Side note: Now I feel like a fool for actually posting this!

I want to dive into a swimming pool of bleu cheese..... it's been one of my top cravings this whole pregnancy. I've given in and had a TINY bit a couple times, but my paranoia usually makes me regret it.

YOU CAN EAT STILTON providing it is made with pasteurized milk but cheeses such as rockfort and gorgonzola (and brie to) are off the list and most other blue's because of the way they are matured.

Don't worry I was in my mother-in-laws fridge sniffing her cheese the other day lol

p.s. you could always make your own blue cheese sauce to be sure, I know most restaurants use stilton in cooking, 5 minute recipe

I thought blue cheese was a no no... :/ I've really been craving Camembert and Brie :( it will be the first thing I eat when I'm allowed to haha. I have been eating goats cheese but not raw, i put it in dishes and cook it. I read on NHS website that it's fine to eat when cooked as long as its made from goats milk.

I want lots of things I'm not allowed to eat :( surprisingly haven't been too bad with alcohol though, I used to love a glass of wine... Or a bottle :p at weekends! I haven't touched a drop since getting pg.

The dressings you buy on the shelf at the store have to be pasteurized in order to be able to be kept out of the fridge. Don't see why you can't eat it then!

I bought blue cheese for dh today and couldn't remember if it was one I am supposed to avoid. I know soft cheeses are a no-no (camembert, brie etc.) but I can't think why blue wouldn't be okay. I'm sure the store bought dressings are totally fine.

Pasteurized cheese is fine! I saw my doc in the grocery store yesterday and I seriously asked him if pasteurized blue cheese was ok and he said yes. I don't think there is a lot of I unpasteurized dairy products sold in regular grocery stores.

Blue cheese that is packaged in airtight packaging is 100% sure to be pasteurized. Blue cheese sauce in a bottle is the same. No problem at all. I had Rigatoni with blue cheese sauce I made the other day, mmmm heaven!!

Actually as long as you stick with things from the super market you are ok. Your chances to eat something unpasteurized and dangerous is only if you go to a farm or village and eat something home made.
Anything produced from big companies is 100% safe. Even Brie and Camembert.

It's fine if its made with pasteurised milk, been pasteurised itself or cooked!! Enjoy!!

Hard pasteurised blue cheeses like Stilton are perfectly fine. Just avoid the soft blue cheeses as it is the increased water content that allows things like listeria to grow. I also think (correct me if I'm wrong!) that lots of things such as camembert and brie are fine to eat if they are piping hot...ie baked camembert or deep fried breaded brie....both things I quite fancy indulging in over the Christmas period with some sort of good compote/chutney and some warm crusty bread! Yum!!

True but most supermarkets these days sell St Agur blue cheese (my favorite) and that is not safe so I am told because of the way it is matured
