Hey all,

I used to love drinking my crystal light on the go packets in a bottle of water. Anyone know if they are safe to drink while pregnant, or does anyone drink them? I had read to kinda stay away from them because of the aspartame in them. I keep forgetting to ask my dr if i can drink a bottle like once a day. Anyone know whats the deal and if its ok or i should continue to avoid it...thanks!!!!

I drink the Walmart brand like its going out of style. My dr has no problems with it.

I drink Wyler's Lite from Winco which is basically the same thing as Crystal Lite and my doctor has also said it's okay. I drink it almost as much as I drink straight water. I can't have drinks with sugar or carbs in them as I have GD!

Gestational Diabetes here as well, and I am aloud to have Aspartame. I drink the Crystal Light lemonade like it is going out of style!

We drink a lot of the Hawaiian punch stuff too. Same concept, but super tasty and not so watery.

Aspartame is pretty terrible for you, but so is the sugar in "fruit" juices and the chemicals in soda. Pick your poison, I guess!

I wish they'd use something other than aspartame. Like PP said, its a pick your poison - especially for diabetics/GD.

I can't really handle aspartame (don't like the taste, get headaches), but you'd hope that if it were really THAT bad for you that it would be taken off the market!

Anyway, I absolutely love that Splenda seems to be used more often, since it doesn't give me headaches the way aspartame does. Just wish it would be in more things (like Crystal Light); I might actually consume enough fluids in a day!

There is also Mio, and walmart makes it's on version of this as well. Just avoid the energy ones. It comes in a little bottle and you use a couple drops to flavor a glass of water and it can be room temp even after you open the bottle so it is also great for travel. It is good for about a month after opening. It uses sucralose, so you could drink some Crystal Lite and some Mio so that you are not getting too much of one or the other. With artificial sweeteners it is all about balancing them. I switch back and forth with my juice drinks. Then with cooking, I use a mix of splenda, truvia, coconut sugar and thinking about adding monk juice.

My Drvsaid it was fine to have Crystal Light, but not more than one glass a day. I crave the lemon aide so I was happy to hear I can have it!
