Hiya

Atm we dont get any ctc. We earn approx 28.5k between us. We may have to sort childcare for my lo next year at some point as my dad may have to find work. If we do as it is atm we would get approx £285 per month help towards childcare if I drop and work 3 days instead of 3 1/2 (working the extra day only gives me an extra 5 per month so a little over £1 per day). So after childcare and bills we would be left with approx £159 per month if all our bills that I am trying to get paid off are paid off by summer!

We would like another lo and I would ideally then like to drop my hours as childcare would be ridiculous yet I couldnt afford to totally not work. As I am the only person in my work that does my job I reckon my chances of dropping down from 30 to lower is unlikely :( I was thinking maybe they could get someone in to do my job full time then I could transfer to admin or something like that! Fx'd anyway as that would be ideal world!!

Anyway when CTC pay towards childcare do you just need to provide them with receipts etc? Also if you need to put lo in some sort of childcare in summer holidays do they help towards that or only permanent childcare?

Thanks!!

You don't have to provide proof to HMRC, but keep all contracts, receipts, invoices etc as they randomly select people for review, I was one of those people this year and it was very stressful! Otherwise all they ask for is how much you earn, what you pay, and the childcare provider's number (they must be a registered childminder, nursery etc not family) not sure about your last question x

Thanks! Its so worrying as we woll really struggle and already we budget low for food shop and elec etc :(

I know hun, we get quite a bit ATM as we had a low income last year, I am dreading April we are going to be about £300 a month worse off :( I really wish there was more help for couples in regards to childcare, I have no family to help me here.

Ah gosh that sucks! Atm my parents help but after about 17 yrs beig unfit to work (he was ade redundant on health grounds) they have decided he can go to work when infact his conditions plus more are worse. And while put of work he has applied but no one will employ hom! Its shocking! Xx

You average what you Paul monthly for the whole year. When i used to get help i payed nothing over holidays as worked in school. I had to work out yearly costs then divide by 12 months for tax credits.

Thanks. We would need childcare pretty much the whole year except for when I book some hol from wprk so do I have to take off the amount of annual leave I get per year? If we need it the childcare will be approx 40 per full day and approx 18 per half day I work 3 and a half days per week but i think the hakf day would run into the second part of the day. I think half day is 8 til 12 but those are the hurs I work so I would have to drop her off for 8 and work from approx 8.15 til 12.15. Lol. Xx

Your childcare provider will more than likely still charge you for when you're on holiday even if your child isn't there so you'll need to have the CTC all year around.

As above... If you're on a full time contract for child care you will still be paying provider when you are on hols...

Yup. The one we would have to put lo in I think they give 1 wk holiday free which is good. Xx

That's great :) I wouldn't worry too much about that CTC aren't that pedantic, there were a few days I didn't pay my childminder due to sickness and CTC didn't mind, they have a limit can't remember but they know people don't pay the exact amount every month. I was reviewed and they didn't say anything.
