we have finally found a nice house so are moving this/next month. we currently have blinds in my lbs room and as hes in a cot im ok with this but he will soon be in a bed and i dont want blind cord in his room!!!!

so i need to know what curtains people have found good?? i preferably want really thick ones to keep the light out!!!! can you but black out curtains??? - are they worth it???? :flower:

Both our children have black out curtains in their room. We got both pairs from Dunelm Mill.
They both work really well. Having said that DS has blinds in his room too - the wooden slatted ones - and DD has a roller blind in her room.

You can get blackout curtains but the designs tend to be fairly limited. Another option is to buy curtains of your choice and then blackout linings - they hook into the curtains using normal curtain hooks.

I decided to forgo the blackout curtains (we have some that work wonderful in our room) only cause I wanted it to be a bit lighter during ner naps- so I got some that have 2 layers. One white that faces the back and one darker color for the front. It keeps the light out very well at night- but allows it in a bit during the day.

Also- for cords (as all our windows have them)- either cut the cord shorter- OR- you can buy a little hook (I bought some tiny one from 3M that stick to the wall)- and put those up on the side of the window to hang the cord from so LO cannot reach it :)

We got blackout linings to attach to the curtains we already had got them cheap from amazon and they work really well. The light streams into his room in the summer so they keep it darker so he can sleep and during the winter they keep the warmth in too x

Thamks everyone. Where did you get the double layer curtsins from seoj???

Dunelms, theyre lovely and blackouts too x

we just have normal curtains (DD has purple ones, and the boys have trucks & diggers ones) and we bought blackout lining from Dunelm Miln. You have to make sure you get the right size, but yeah they're easy to attach - just get some plastic curtain hooks and sort of hook them together. Not difficult.

My little boy has Some digger curtains which are from next and they are fantastic!
I bought them from eBay so got them for a quarter of the price. :)

DS has black out safari curtains from Dunelm they are lovely, we use a gro anywhere black out blind underneath as well just to properly black it out although the curtains are pretty good without.

I got my sons blackout curtains from argos, they do blue and pink and they're great. Really thick and keep the light out...

Here's the pink ones!
