D&C? Polyp & Cysts So Confused

So I'm having a dye test on Monday to have a better look at A polyp that stopped this months IUI. Then my doctor said most likely a D&C to get rid of it.

What can I expect from this?

Also she saw a cyst on my right ovary, will this really just go away quickly like my doctor implied ?

I've read some scary stuff about D&c's doing damage ..
