Just put DD to bed with no BF for the first time ever because she wouldn't stop biting me! She's never bitten me before so I'm at a loss as to where this has come from. She normally feeds morning and night and enjoys her feeds, but not tonight. She's gone off without a whimper and I feel bad about it, and a bit rejected. No point to this thread really other than to vent a bit to you ladies who understand more than most!

I'm also worried about her getting dehydrated over night. She refused milk from a sippy cup and it's quite warm here at the mo :(

:hugs::hugs:

Maddie started biting me again last night, it's not nice, but to be honest we've come through 2 nursing strikes and so I'm a bit more relaxed when she says no - which is what I think the biting was about. She also didn't wake up in the night until 1am which told me she can't have been hungry or rebelling ;)... When she does that, she wakes up after an hour screaming for milk.

Just wanted to say - you're not alone, it won't last, and you can always offer a sippy cup of water, Maddie will drink this even when she is refusing boob.

xx

Thanks. She did it again tonight... I confess last night I woke her before I went to bed and fed her, because she'll feed when she's sleepy and then go straight back to sleel. How long did your nursing strikes last? She'll still feed in the morning, but then I figure that's because she's hungry.

It took about a week to get back to normal - but it showed signs of coming back after 4/5 days - but for 3 days she would only feed first thing and last thing xx

Biting is (in my opinion) more expirimental than anything. Or at least, in my experience it was. My first LO was sweet and gentle, and bit me twice - told no each time - before never doing it again. This last LO found joy in it, and was expirimenting with the reactions at varying hardness of chomps and lengths. The first time she began to bite I made her a nursing necklace to hold and play with (and yes, pop off to bite) and it cured it within a day. This last time around she'd gotten in six new teeth, for eight in total. It hurt so badly I couldn't help but cry out. That startled her and made her cry. It happened a couple of times and my pain reaction scared her each time, so she quit.

I wouldn't put her to bed w/out dinner b/c of it. I think you were smart to go back when she was sleepy and nurse that way. :) It eases the dehydration concerns, feeds the baby, and spares your breasts. lol

My LO used to bite when she was teething, I just used to unlatch wait a moment then latch her on again, it took a week or so but she stopped doing it. It can also be experimental to see your reaction

I wouldn't put her to bed with a BF if it was just biting, but she just would not point blank suck to get milk. Thankfully it's settled.down a bit, but she's still not quite back to normal. it's interesting what you say about it being experimental... I might get a nursing necklace too if it carries on or she does it again. Thanks :flower:
