Caitlyn loves cheese. I'm not sure which is healthier for her, normal cheese or Dairylea? Is melted mild chedder healthier than Dairylea? Sorry if I sound stupid

I'd personally go for the less processed choices every time so I prefer to give ordinary cheddar. I don't know how they compare salt wise though...

Thank you!! I'm not sure either of them are that great for her.... but she can't have cucumber sandwiches every day

Olivia will only eat melted cheddar at the moment so if I give her a sandwich I pop some low salt cheese spread on or cottage cheese instead.

Not stupid at all! I often wonder if dairylea is advisable as a regular dietary thing, as one of my twins will only have that in a sandwich. She will eat a stick of cheddar, but her sister won't...
Being creamy one assumes that the milky (thus calcium) content will be greater, but I'm probably more "stupid" for thinking that too!! It's certainly less salty that's for sure and i suppose in the great scheme of things there are much worse things we could be feeding them

I would say both were fine as long as its in moderation. x

I think all are fine, to be honest i give Paddy Dairylea on toast because i know hes not gonna burn himself like he might do on melted cheese. He opens sandwiches and eats whats inside anyway and leave the bread! xxx

Aisling has a good bit of dairylea because she doesn't tend to eat much other cheese and she loves it. I've felt guilty about it and have been trying to figure out why but after lots of looking into it, I can't find much wrong with Dairylea

I give Tom Philadelphia, haven't looked in to it but for some reason I fell this is healthier!

There is slightly more salt in Dairylea than normal cheddar. A normal cheddar also has nearly double the fat and calcium. I'd use whichever she prefers, personally I can't stand cheese that tastes of nothing so it's organic farmhouse mature cheddar all the way!

Adam has Cheddar and Philadelphia, never offered Dairylea because I don't like it but I think salt-wise it is about the same as Phili. I also offer Emmental (Swiss cheese) because it is way less salty than either of them. He likes all cheeses, even mild, relatively tasteless ones.

i give a bit of both, though as she only really has a dairylea sandwich once i week when out, i tend to give cheddar as maddi LOVES her cheese!
