I think Emma has chicken pox. She has what looks like a really spotty nappy rash..............but now there are what look like little bug bites/pin pricks over her legs.

She is sparky in herself.............but she was rather ill about 2/3 weeks ago - one day had a 37.5 temp and has had a cold then an ear infection etc.

If it is........I just read the blurb that says its immediately before and after the spots appear she is contagious.............they had ALL the kids in the nursery today............:(

I dunno how to deal with CP. My boss goes to the us on the 28th for a work exchange thing.........so as I will be working next to the girl from the USA who is coming over, do I need to make sure she has had CP?

GAH! Going to have to have the MIL living with us to watch Emma as she obv cant go to nursery............and she cant take her up the road as she has no heating.

Oh poor thing. Hope it turns out not to be CP.

Riya was given a vaccine for CP today along with the MMR. It was a 4 in 1 jab.

Did your LO have it ?

She has had:

Dtap/IPV/Hib and PCV
Dtap/IPV/Hib and Men C
Hib/Men C
MMR

I don't think we vaccinate against CP here.

One friend says that since it is on her legs its not CP.......we have not changed anything washing powder or bath soap wise. She has not eaten anything new.

Will have to see what it is like in the morning. She does have that one white spot on her bum....do hope its just nappy rash!!

My son who is 18 months broke out with CP on wednesday..was clear at 8am by 11.30 he had a fair few on back and belly. I think its unusual for them to start on the legs so i hope its not CP for you. They multiply pretty quick so you should be able to tell by morning.

My LO is not too bad with..better today just touchy and clingy at times. So not too bad just stuck in the house till most have scabbed over.

If it is buy the aqueous calamine cream.. So much better than lotion.

Xx

Well. she had the spot on her bum this morning....no other marks and the nursery said that they noticed mid day she had a few week marks..
In her bath tonight there would have been about 30+ dots........

Hmmm...sounds like it could well be. My boy was ok when they appeared on wed...he was crabby yesterday(2nd day) and didnt hardly move all day. Today he was better in himself but still had so much more spots again this morning. I thing theyre all through now...but it took 36-48 hrs... Poor thing is covered from head to toe!!

Cross fingers they disapear by morning.

Oh.. And theyre generally contagious from 2 days before they appear:dohh: till they all scab over wch is usually 5-7 days from when they appear. I wouldnt worry about the work thing... Only people/kids who come in direct conract with her.

Xx

she was REALLY crabby yesterday......so clingy that when I was trying to sort dinner, despite knowing it is hot, and she always stays away from it......she squeezed between me and the oven!

All the signs are there :nope: lets hope its a false alarm.

as much as a pain in the bum that it is, I think it's better to get it over and done with. My son gets loads of viral rashes and every time he comes out in one, I hope it's chicken pox! lol
