How would you pronounce Danté, please answer the poll.

dan-tay. I have a friend called this. his parents are italian.

I would think DON-tay is the traditional pronunciation just because you always hear Dante's Inferno from Divine Comedy pronounced that way. Which is written in Italian so I'm not sure why Italians would pronounce it DAN-tay?

I think its more commonly DON-tay but personally, I prefer DAN-tay.

I'd say DON-tay too, but with the accent mark it looks a bit like Don-TAY.

My youngest daughter has a friend called Dante, pronounced DON-tay. She's a girl so I'm not sure if the pronunciation differs for different genders?? X

Dante is (in Italian) pronounced dan-teh. I would pronounce it Dan-tay more than Don-tay.

(go to www.forvo.com to hear Italians pronouncing the word, you'll see what I mean).

Gorgeous name x

Its supposed to be DON-tay! Its like a million year old story called Dante's Incanto! Yall should read up on it sometime! Dante tavels through the deadly sins/stages of hell.. all of the sins and the things that send you to hell!!

Do you mean Danté's Inferno? The Hell-related bit of Danté Alighieri's poem Divine Comedy? The 14th century one?
