I went to Dr last Thursday, July 7th, for what I thought was a virus but he did a PT anyway and came back super quick to tell me I was pregnant!!

As soon as I left that Dr, I went to see my friend who is a receptionist at another office and she talked me into seeing her Dr there. Another confirmed test and going by my LMP, I should be about 11 weeks now.

HOWEVER, my LMP (Apr 28th) was very light and almost spotting.

So they make me an appointment at the ER lab to do a sonogram since I am considered high risk for having multiple mc.

According to the lady at the ER, who was not very nice by the way, I am only 7 weeks now.

I've read in multiple sites that the machines they use at the ER aren't that accurate with the dates and stuff. Makes sense because my town is cheap...

Backing up for a moment...

When I was a week late, I took an HPT and it come out negative. The very next week, being 2 weeks late, I took 2 more tests and they both come out negative, as well. I have issues with my hormones, so naturally, I assumed that was the case and thought I'd missed my chance again this month.

I am having a multitude of symptoms, including nausea if I don't eat as soon as my tummy rumbles and when I get "full". My nips are tender to the touch and I'm tired more than normal. Also, my lower abdomen is tight and I feel as though I have a 30 lb weight attached some days. I don't feel bloated but I cam definitely tell a baby is in there. I've been getting short of breath at times during the day, also but nothing too bad.
I can also feel flutters in my lower belly, which I'm assuming it's gas?

I've had one live birth already and I know previous pregnancies can make you more aware with new ones.

Okay so questions!! Sorry it's so long....

1. Which Dr should I listen to about how far along I am?

2. Has anyone else had a similar situation?

3. Since my LMP was short and light, could it mean I'm actually father along that I thought?

My first appointment with the high risk specialist isn't until the 28th of July.

I'd love to hear your stories!!!

BTW, hubby and I have been ttc for 3.5 years, with 1 mc last Feb. Other than that, this is the first bit of hope we've had in a very long time!

Also, my cycles are usually around 26 days. Thanks ladies!!!😊😚🤗

Congratulations firstly! Honestly though although scanning machines used in ER are not that great, there is a huge difference between a 7 week and an 11 week baby. Even someone not specifically trained in early scans could confuse the two. Baby is little more than a cute little blob at 7 weeks where as by 11 weeks it's looking more like a small slightly out of proportion baby. I can say in all the scans ive had over the years there would be no mistaking the two. If for any reason the person that scanned you has then I'd have serious doubts that they should be allowed to perform ultasounds. Sounds as if you most likely didn't ovulate in May, hence why your period didn't arrive, and why you tested negative even at 2 weeks late. But then went on to have a normal cycle in June. I imagine you will be offered another scan shortly though for dating so that will clear up any confusion and in the early days even a few weeks won't alter any care you receive. Good luck and congratulations again. Attached my 7 and 11 week pictures to show you the difference.

There would be a big difference between 11 weeks and 7 weeks on a sonogram-- no matter how crappy the machine or tech is. Did you get any pictures? I would lean toward the ER being right, only because they have actually seen the baby. Whenever there is a question of dates, an ultrasound is normally the final word anyway. That's not to say that an ultrasound can't be wrong or off by a few days. I think even up to a week... But not an entire month. Especially not at that stage of the pregnancy.

Either way, congratulations! That's very exciting. Wishing you a happy and healthy nine months!

Unfortunately, I wasn't even able to look at the screen so I have no idea what she saw. She was training another lady in there while doing my scan so she definitely didn't have much time for me. I can say, however, that upon entering the room, the monitor which the sonogram was pictured looked as if it had been made with the first set of computers from the early 90s

I would probably describe all sonograms that way!!
I agree with the other ladies - the scan is more likely to be accurate. Basically doctors use LMP as an estimate as it's the only thing to go by until you have a scan as most women don't know when they ovulated. So, combined with the negative tests, I'd agree that you ovulated a lot later than normal, skipping a month by the sound of things.

Even on a super old machine you would still clearly see a difference between 7-11 weeks. Honestly it would be almost impossible to mistake. Id honestly just go with what you were told from the scan.

It sounds like you ovulated late.
There are distinct differences in a 7 week old fetus and a 11 week old fetus, even on a crappy US machine. They don't just look at pictures they look at the landmarks (yolk sac, fetal pole, heart rate, actual measurement) and those numbers correlate with a fetal age. They aren't as fancy as the ones in actual imaging but they do their job. I would say 7 weeks and you ovulated later.

Ask for the report and it will tell you everything you need to know that the tech didn't tell you. They should have seen a Hb too! That early on they really don't say much, except for "confirmation" of pregnancy.

(I'm a RN and work in the ER)

Congrats!

I agree, the scan will be the most accurate. You may just have ovulated late, especially as you got negative pregnancy tests at first.

Congratulations! X

Thanks ladies! I'm sure you're all right about this.. I was just hoping to be father along so I could pass the first trimester and be past the high risk state for miscarriage. I wouldn't be so worried about it if I hadn't had 2 already.
I'll update after I have my first appointment on the 28th!!

UPDATE..
Had a lot of sharp shooting pains in the vaginal area and around 2:30 today, I went to the bathroom to find blood on the toilet paper. I rushed to the hospital where they did a transvaginal ultrasound and a regular ultrasound. They also did a pelvic exam since my urine sample had blood in it.
Long story short, baby is still doing good but they don't know why I bled. Heartbeat was a strong 160 and the bleeding was dark brown and only spotting. They said everything was great but the blood was probably old blood that finally made its way down the canal but in the paperwork, they put down that it was a threatened miscarriage. No surprise there as the same thing happened with my son and he is now 6 years old.
Follow up with my Dr in the morning. Will update again then!
Also, I am 7 weeks 5 days, putting my due date around the 2nd of March

Fingers crossed for you! Glad that the heartbeat was good, at least. <3

Another update!
The pain is from the stretching and growing inside of me making room for baby. The blood is from a sore that is up there somehow, I can only assume came from either my husband or one of the lady parts doctors I've seen. The specialist I saw today didn't seem concerned at all about it and said that it would scab over eventually. She said that it is an old sore, which is why I was seeing brown blood and that I shouldn't worry about it. My first appointment with my new ob next week and then a follow up appointment with the specialist in a month!

That's great news 2angels. I don't blame you for hoping you were a month further along... 1st trimester is tough! Wishing you a very happy and healthy 9 months :cloud9:
