Deacon?

What do you think? Would you use it? Its on our shortlist but I'm on the fence.
 
Isn't a Deacon like a priest of something? It would be like giving them a title rather than a name.

you might want to check you can even use it as in most countries 'titles' cannot be used as names - for instance in England you cant be called lord (ruined my friends name plan) and in Australia you cant be called Justice (there was a big court case) in some states of the US you cant use Messiah (also a big court case) etc...
 
I love love the name but won't use it because of the religious associations :(
 
I love the name Deacon, it was my first choice but DH didn't like it :(

Wouldnt have known of its religious affiliation.

An alternate that was on my list was Declan.
