Dear Birth Fairy... (what would be your DREAM birth?)

Funnily enough I didn't mind the pain of labour and I wouldn't want it too fast because I actually enjoyed labour in one way, it gives a real rush. If the baby just appeared it would be too much of a shock, lol. No complications, no interventions and not too long and painful would keep me happy.

For me a dream birth would be a successful VBAC with no stitches! The thought of having stitches totally freaks me out! x

My dream birth would be

Going into labour spontaneously, do not want induced this time
Sometime between 39 weeks (now lol) and 41 weeks
Home water birth, gas and air if required
3-4 hours first contraction to baby
No tear, no episiotomy
Healthy baby
Snuggles in my own bed after delivery
Oh, yeah and through the night so the other children are asleep lol

I was lucky and had two dream births. My first my waters went in the night, contractions followed the next morning, got to hospital at 4 pm and baby was born in the pool with out any pain relief or gas and air at 2.24am.

My second, contractions started at 8/9pm, put up the pool (had a home birth) and baby was born at 00.06 again with absolutely no pain relief.

Both times I didn't tear. Just had a small graze. And both babies arrived before their due date. Annabelle at 39 weeks and Joseph at 39+5 weeks.

I have been very lucky. However after my homebirth, the following morning, we had to go to hospital and Joseph was admitted in to neonatal ward with severe jaundice and after a weeks stay was finally able to come home. That would be the only thing I'd change xx

My labour was pretty perfect!

The only thing that would have made it better would have been not tearing.

It was 3 n half hours from first contraction till she was out. I was fully dilated when I arrived at the hospital.

I pushed for 30 mins but the first 20 mins was pretty half hearted attempt at pushing to be honest! Few really hard pushes and my baby girl was there.

She turned on her way out and I got a 2nd degree tear. Not the end of the world!

i have already had my dream birth and i hope i am lucky enough to have it again:

- mild gentle labour through out day, happy pottering around etc

- checked by midwife at home and found to be 10 cms, no pain

- baby delivered naturally at home, minor pain whilst crowning

- no tears

- baby super healthy/pink/crying and latched on straightaway

- tucked up in clean bed, rest of family coming to visit me within the hour.

It was seriously blissful.

My 2nd birth was pretty fantastic,had a decent sleep,woke with contractions at 5.30am,had a bath and called oh in from work.Got to hospital at 7.30,fully dilated and gave birth at 8.10!

If I could improve on that I would like a waterbirth and also to not be overdue but,Im not complaining

I would like to go into labour naturally, no induction, no pitocin, no epidural, water birth with just gas and air, and for baby to latch on straight away! I tore but it didn't bother me much, I had a graze though which took months to heal
