December 2018 Testing Thread ~ FX for Christmas BFPs!!

TTC74, yes I think I can see something. Hope it gets darker.

I'm 13DPO today, AF due tomorrow.
Woke up feeling like AF had started but nope. Temperature still over 36.7 (98.0) but BFN. Surely not likely to get a BFN after 13DPO now....
Sorry bout bfn but you never know Hugs

Hi ladies!

This is our first month trying. After a miscarriage in October. I’m on CD 23 and FINALLY got a positive OPK last night around 6 so we BD last night and tonight.

What do you ladies think should I count today as 1dpo if I got a positive opk yesterday or count tomorrow as day 1?

If you got a positive OPK yesterday, I think your ovulation day is today and tomorrow is 1 DPO.

Sorry about your miscarriage.

Did you get the timing right during the past 4 days? Good luck this cycle!

Well ladies, something FINALLY might be happening (emphasis on might, might, might, might)...

I got a good double line using serum at 7 and 9 DPO. It was interesting.

But FRERs were negative and IC strips were either nothing or evap looking using FMU or SMU from 7 - 10 DPO.

I was curious and confused. Just had to wait. It took 4 days for it to start to show on tests!!! 4 days!!!

Today at 11 DPO, second morning sample I finally got this:

https://i63.tinypic.com/kbw3yv.jpg

It's still not much.

At 9 DPO a FRER was BFN (completely negative).

I had 1 FRER left, so I used a few drops of serum (using a lancet on a finger) at the top of the frer and 5 second dip on urine, and it gave me THIS:

(I tried this several months ago when AF was late and got a BFN), but this time:

I'm still scratching my head and wondering what the heck. It makes sense that HCG flows in our system and it takes several days to show on urine, but I was surprised how big the difference is and how may days it takes!

Now hoping my lines to get darker and AF stays away! (unlike last time)

Congratulations! Looks like a bfp to me!
I love your experiment - you mentioned that you used serum, how did you separate it from the red&white cells at home? Or did you mean full blood? I might just try it once I get back to ttc.

My blood work result came Negative today but AF didn’t show up yet.

No I did not use whole blood, no. Disclaimer: I work in health care.

This is right up my alley but not for others. I'll only share what I found to show you HOW LONG the hcg flows in our system before a home pregnancy test can pick it up!

I read a medical article where Emergency Room doctors do this when they need a quick result and don't want to wait to send a sample down to the lab. Then I read a thread where dozens of ladies did this for laughs, and some got BFNs others got BFPs a few days earlier than a hpt. So I had to try!

Clinical Trial results (serum is more accurate than urine, but WB can be used, too)

The ER doctors used whole blood because they need immediate answer, but I wasn't in a hurry and I know erythrocytes settle into a clot on the bottom and serum floats into a clear liquid all on its own if you let it sit for a while.

I used a glucose test lancet on a toe. (Because if you've ever stepped on something, you might remember it keeps going and going and going). I held a tiny plastic container (one of the tiny plastic pockets where my prenatal vitamins come) until it stopped on its own. I was surprised how quickly a few drops added up.

I let it sit. After a couple of hours the erythrocytes settle in the bottom and clot. The serum floats into a clear liquid on top.

I dipped a strip to test it with an IC and poured the rest on top of the FRER before dipping it for 5 seconds in SMU.

At 7 DPO there was a double line, BFP but faint.

At 9 DPO it was a stronger BFP, but I was still getting BFNs with urine samples.

Today at 11 DPO it finally showed on SMU.

I didn't quite believe it since my pregnancy tests kept coming back negative or looked like evaps. I figured I caught another chemical.

Finally, it came up on an IC today.

So this process gave me an answer 4 days before it started to showed on SMU!!!

I'm only at 11 DPO so it could still end in a chemical. My definition of a BFP is bold double lines after 15 DPO and betas that keep rising!

But this did calm my nerves. I'm still puzzled at the big difference in time and lines.

And this are my 11 DPO urine samples:

At 7 DPO I had a very clear BFP on serum. But I washed it and rubbed it too much. I learned you can wash the strip by running water over it - without touching it.

Hi.
I have experience with both endo and clomid. What do you want to know?
Good luck!

On 13 dpo today, I've been getting occasional cramps, boob ache and nausea since 11 dpo but that doesn't mean anything. Those are all common pre-AF symptoms for me.

Ooh have you tested yet @Katy78 ? Sending positive vibes for a Christmas BFP!

Re the clomid and endo, ive only really read about it boosting ovulation, not that it can really help with conception issues related to endo... my obgyn said that it basically gives everything in there a bit of a boost and so she can see benefits giving it a go before IVF. I tend to shy away from taking pills wherever possible so Im just a little unsure atm. I got the script today and also referrals for bloods to check progesterone at cd21...

Any personal experience or advice is appreciated :)

Sorry just wanted to be nosey & ask why your GYN is gna start you on clomid?
I've been TTC over 18 months & recently had a few tests which pretty much confirmed my suspicions I have endo & I'm sure its on my bowel judging by the pain I get from it. They saw adhesions & also found I have a blocked left tube & a cyst on my right ovary.
I have to wait 3 months now to see my consultant to discuss it all but the only thing the doctor doing my tests mentioned was IVF which financially won't be an option for us. I did wonder if clomid could be an option for me.

After all my results I'm not holding out much hope for this month but can I be put down for 22nd Dream143r please.
Hi @pamg sorry youre going through the endo thing too... basically my obgyn has said that clomid will be the last resort before IVF and how I interpreted what she said was that the clomid can just give everything down there a bit of a boost during the cycle. I'll assume because she has seen my insides and my tubes work, she has made a professional judgment on whether this could work and has decided it could...

I try to avoid taking pills where possible so Im in two minds and asking around at the moment. i have the script to start 3 cycles but i will wait till i take a hpt on monday. if im bfn this month and i start clomid and get a bfp, i will let you know!

i hope you will get your bfp without ivf

According to me, AF is due tomorrow, according to Fertility Friend it's today and according to Femometer it was yesterday.
Either way, my temps show no sign of dropping but I'm still getting BFN and now a tinge of pink cm. So I guess this is normal for me on Letrozole, to have high temps until right before AF. They normally drop slowly from about 10 or 11dpo when I'm unmedicated. But its good. It means the meds work well for me and my progesterone is high and steady. It's just a case of catching the egg!

Roll on 2019!

This is unbelievably fascinating! Thank you so much for sharing. I've never heard about serum, so I'm excited to learn more!

Your chart looks fab! Are you testing?

I think I’m losing my mind with lineeye. Does anyone see anything?

I see the lines too! FX!

Wow, so December seem to bring a lot of BFP just like November. I hope I get to post a BFP this month too since I think we had a better timing . But I’m not overly confident and don’t want to get my hopes up. 4 DPO today, so still way too early to test.
