The corpus luteum forms after ovulation and produces progesterone and estrogen. If no pregnancy occurs then it breaks down and the loss of progesterone and estrogen causes your bbt to drop and your period to start.

Sometimes it can even cause a functional cyst which can take time to go away.

I always figured since ovulation hurt and some cyst like thing forms on your ovaries afterwards then that could probably cause similar pain as after ovulation. Especially since it’s always on the same side I ovulated from.

Here is some more information:

“The corpus luteum secretes estrogens and progesterone. The latter hormone causes changes in the uterus that make it more suitable for implantation of the fertilized ovum and the nourishment of the embryo. If the egg is not fertilized, the corpus luteum becomes inactive after 10–14 days, and menstruation occurs.”

“The size of the corpus luteum is highly variable.”

I could be completely wrong. It just always made sense to me to think of it that way.

Bbs started hurting later this morning. Lower ab cramps getting more prominent. Hoping these are all signs of implantation and not just the dose of progesterone I took yesterday.

Frer have been bad lately with false positives and bad indent lines I would try another brand of pink dye to be sure .

Nah, I trust FRER. I’ve never gotten a line like this on FRER my last cycles. I think I’m pregnant and i trust that it’s a faint positive.

I wouldn't go off just one test ... but if you say your pregnant then you must be. Good luck hope its a real positive.

So the strangest thing has been happening for the past week and not sure if it could be a sign.

I’ve had a bunch of soreness inside my mouth and swelling of my gums and under my tongue. It’s the worst when I wake up in the morning so I thought my mouth guard was causing it (night time jaw clenched here ), but then I slept without it last night and I’m as swollen as ever today.

It feels like I’ve eaten way too much salt, and the inside of my lips is feeling a bit rough. It’s so swollen I’ve been accidentally biting the inside of my lip and cheek more than usual as well.

I’m 10 dpo today, and it started on Sunday, when I was 4 dpo, which should be way too early to have any kind of symptoms, but it’s just all so weird.

Thoughts ladies? Could it just be my dust allergies acting up big time? Or a virus?

Well this mornings test has just confirmed what I already knew. Knew it from the first test because of how faint in was. Can't imagine this ever happening for me now. 4th time this year. Don't even know how to feel this morning. Just feeling numb right now.

asfm we have all been caught with thia bug it’s been a long week. I have a gynae appt on 30th. I am not holding out any hope for tgis cycle I have never caught straight after a loss.

Laura I really get you I’ve had 7 miscarriages my 3 in a row took 4 years and now this 3 in a row took 15 months. 16 cycles is so long you get to a point in considering whether to throw the towel in. Pregnancy is never the same after losses. My period is due xmas eve yeah just what I need lol. Chin up luv and hoping for the best for you!

only just seen this now so sorry. Do you have a history previously of losses. I can describe everything I did different with Leo. I had a useless gynae but I requested a switch

@Laurabub84 I am so sorry might it be worth going into drs next time you get the first faint line and getting hcg levels done? That way at least it's documented and you have proof, and someone might eventually listen and investigate further? I'm so sorry for what you are going through

@Skyye congrats on your BFP! I have heard that stress can hinder conceiving so it could have helped that you stopped "trying" this cycle if it was stressful for you

AFM I am just starting to get ewcm so hopefully will ovulate in a few days, today I had an awesome buy, I got a 7pack of FRER for $20.99(AUD) They are usually $17 for a 3pack here so I am pretty happy! Now I don't need to feel bad to test early
