Decided today to TTC #2!!!

So today my husband and I made the official decision to TTC #2!!! Last night was my last time taking my birth control pill. We currently have a daughter who will be 3 in July and this forum was so much help and support during our time TTC'ing her. It took us about 6 months to get pregnant with her. At the time, I tended to have longer cycles lasting about 36-38 days. Now since being on a birth control pill for the past year and a half, my cycles have been spot on 28 days each. I was wondering how many cycles on average after getting off the pill does it usually take to conceive? I'm expecting my next period to start next Friday (May 12th) if it stays at 28 days like it has been while I've been on the pill, but I'm not sure what it might do since I won't be taking it anymore as of last night. Anyone else gone through a similar situation or have any tips or advice? I've been trying to refresh my memory lately as to when to expect ovulation to occur and the best times to try to conceive during the month. (Sorry, I'm a little rusty on all the terms and acronyms I'm trying to remember lol.) Well I just wanted to share the news and come back to the forum! Anyone else's cycle due to start around the same as mine?? We can be buddies!

i'll be your buddy! my DD is 4 and my son is almost 2 we TTC our third but i've recently been diagnosed with some thyroid troubles so TTC will be a bit harder for me but i'm going to try my hardest.

when i came off BCP my cycles were a bit wonky for the first few months but evened out, i got preg really quick when i came off of them, i hope its the same for you

My son is 20 months and we 'decided' to start trying again last night (basically mid sex decided to scrap the condoms!). I'm glad the decision was made like this because I had been struggling to make a decision on age gaps but just want to get on with it now and get the baby years over with! Feel excited now though

I never went back on the pill after my 1st so hopefully won't take us too long xx

I started AF a few days early (scheduled to start on Friday but came on Tuesday instead) after comping off of BCP. I'm still lightly bleeding so I'm going to just consider Tuesday as cycle day 1 and we are excited to start opks for this month! I just ordered a bulk supply of 100 wondfo opks plus 20 pregnancy tests it was like $21 all together plus shipping from Walmart website if anyone is interested. That brand they use a lot in hospitals and doctor offices and stuff so they are accurate. We used them when conceiving our first daughter. Anyways, we are staying hopeful and keeping our fingers crossed!

We are still in limbo with mine after coming off the pill a few weeks ago, so not sure yet how long my cycles will be or when I should expect to ovulate, etc. But hopefully it happens for us sooner rather than later! Were you on any form of birth control before trying to conceive this time, or was your cycle just not there yet until now since having your first? Love your daughter's name by the way.

Thank you so much! No I haven't been using any type of birth control, this is just my first cycle since giving birth. I'm really curious how it's going to go. Like back to normal straight away or all crazy or what. I'm still breast feeding my daughter so I'm assuming it will we wonky for a while. My sister's cycles are still wonky and she's still BF my niece who will be two in August. I read that it usually takes BF women a few cycles to start ovulating. I'm hoping to start charting my BBT again but I'm not sure when to take my temperature because Beatrice still isn't sleeping through the night.

I hope your cycles come back smoothly for you! Will you just be using OPKs for now?

Hi mommies! So happy I found this thread We also just decided to TTC #2... well, technically #3 overall (I have a daughter from a previous relationship, as does my DF) but it will be my second pregnancy. We have been NTNP since early this year, but we just moved into our new home and decided now is the time!! I AM SO EXCITED!!!! I'm only on CD 16, and we were only able to BD on CDs 9, 12 and 15. I usually ovulate pretty early, around CD 9-11... so we will see!! AF isn't due until June 5th soooo... let the wait begin!!

Hi ladies! I am only on CD 8 right now so waiting to see when/if I ovulate this cycle. I usually ovulate around CD 10-15 (most often CD 11-13) but as this is my first cycle postpartum I cannot say anything for sure. I have had a lot of light and/or spotting days and only one medium flow day so it seems like I am just "warming up."

i think i may have ov'ed but not sure! I started getting my positive OPK on Tuesday unfortunately DH was at work all night so we did not BD until 7am next morning and again that afternoon. My OPK was still positive last night so we bd again. So far this is what it looks like for me

11:30PM Sunday: BD
Monday: no BD
Tuesday No BD (OPK starting to go positive)
Wednsday 7am: BD (opk positive)
Wednesday Noon: BD (opk strong positive)
Thursday night: BD (OPK Strong positive)

a few days of positives which is a bit odd but oh well!

Please keep us updated and let us know how it goes! As for me, I've had a few positive/nearly positive opks since yesterday. We weren't able to bd yesterday unfortunately but we did the day before and again this morning. Will try again in the am and take another opk. I'll take a pic of my opk progression for this cycle so far tomorrow and post it.

Hi girls!! We are going for #2 and just got positive smiley. I'm so glad these exist because I'm horrible at temping. Anyone ever experience pain on one side during ovulation?? Maybe it's because I'm really paying attention but I've had an ache all day on the lower left side.��
