Hi Lovies,

Does anyone know if dehydration can affect/effect (I have a master's degree and still cannot figure out which one to use) your CM? I am terrible, terrible about drinking enough water throughout the day. My CM has always been OK but I wonder if it could be better if I drank more.

I'm no doctor but I am speculating that drinking more could help it. I know CM is not water soluble, but like everything else in our body, it has to contain some water, yes?

Thoughts??

Also, if anyone wants to give me an English Grammar lesson on affect vs. effect, that's cool too.

Hopes of baby soon!!

I've never heard much about it either, but I'm assuming water is important. I mean, it's so important to the healthy functioning of everything else in your body that it only makes sense that it would be good for CM too.

On the other hand, you generally want a thick-ish CM, and possibly it could get watered down, but I'm doubtful that that's the case.

I've been working for years to slowly increase my water intake, and while I'm not sure I see/feel any significant changes, I know that it's good for me so I keep it up.

(PS - I have the same problem with affect/effect too, even though I've studied the 'rules' plenty!)

Yes, it drinking less water def directly affects your CM. Your body can't produce it if you are dehydrated. I read it somewhere.

Yes, all mucus membranes will become dry when you are truly dehydrated. Which includes membranes your mouth, cervix, etc.

I did read that an important part of getting healthy/normal CM pattern is staying hydrated. Can't remember where though, sorry :/

P.S. In general, affect is used when it's a verb, and effect is used when it's a noun. There are some exceptions, but this rule is more often the case than not. So in the OP's case, affect is the correct word. Yes, I am a nerd :)

I love it. LOL. Thank you!
