Am waiting for 3 different orders from Amazon. One of them has not moved now for over a fortnight according to Amazon. More importantly Currys are supposed to be coming tomorrow to deliver and install a new washer dryer and Sky to fix the Sky+. Am more concerned with them getting here as the others are not main gifts and DH won't mind.
I think that people are rightly beginning to get frustrated with the many excuses some of the delivery companies are making. Yes, we have had snow across the central belt of Scotland since late November now but there have been a lot of days where it had largely melted and there was no reason why deliveries did not go ahead. Lots of excuses.
I think a lot of it has been backlog and trying to clear the backlog and of course they won't get extra people in to help so they will be trying to get new orders out as well as clear the backlog. Its not just in scotland that things are getting backed up though. Yes scotland had it worse but there is still backlog throughout the country esp. with this new dumping of snow parts of the country have had.
I live in a small town (i.e the only high street type shops we have is a boot pharmacy, a spar and a co-op) and the postman said there are cages of parcels at our small delivery office that they are still trying to clear and to be honest compared to some places we didn't have a huge amount of snow the first time and even less now.
Also with it being Christmas there will be more than other times of year so although they will have accounted for extra mail in the system the snow fall won't have been taken into account.
Ordering online at this time of year is always going to be a risk with regards things turning up - not only due to the high volume of post and parcels but also some of the extra temp staff that places hirer aren't always the most honest

With the added snow its no wonder things are taking longer to arrive.
This country doesn't know how to operate in snow. A lot of drivers haven't got the experience of driving in the snow - including delivery drivers.
Unfortuntely a lot of these online companies haven't been keeping their websites up to date regard to delivery - i.e amazon were (not sure if still are) stating a delay of 2 to 3 on orders - this in reality was not the case for a lot of parcels. Mothercare in the last lot of snow closed their warehouse so no orders were being picked and dispatched but there was nothing on the website about this - they eventually put something on there about delivery taking longer (they were also using automated calls to ring customers informing of delays in delivery) but nothing about things taking longer to dispatch.
I do think it is getting stupid when people have been waiting since November for items but unfortuntely a lot of companies are just trying to keep any current parcels from getting delayed (basically the older orders have already failed their delivery targets so to ensure more don't they are concentrating on newer orders)
