I got my blood results after my first IUI.... It was taken yesterday at 8dpo, iui.... I am really sad. My progesterone is .3 ng!!! 10 is normal..... They even considered a lab error initially as it was so low....

I am only 27, my progesterone levels are apparently like menopausal... My hcg was 7 and so I was started on progesterone suppositories today just on case... Had hcg trigger 9 days ago so might be false positive but better safe than sorry... Miscarriages run in family.

But this is a real blow, as it means I will need even more hormones and am being sent to an RE..... And indicates I will be in for a long haul....

It is not a short luteal phase as I have a 14-15 day luteal phase, and it isn't lack of FSH as my follicle was nice and big before ovulation. Ovulation prompted by trigger and confirmed via ultrasound....

Has anyone else had really low luteal phase progesterone? What was done, what happened, what were you told?

Quick update, for those who might have similar problems. So, apparently I have a luteal phase defect. I was put on progesterone the day I learned this, and it was re-tested a few days ago, and found to been increased up to 7.7 which is a good start. It is apparently not due to a short luteal phase, or insufficient follicle development, as both have been ruled out. I am about 15% over my ideal body weight. Apparently, 50% of women who are 20% or more over their ideal body weight have luteal phase insufficiency. BUT if you lose weight too quickly you mess stuff up in another way!!

I might be psuedoovulating, meaning that my follicle bursts but does not release a viable egg. Looks very unlikely we succeeded this cycle, but am staying on progesterone one more day then re-testing at 13 dpo...

Next cycle, the plan is to get twice as strong of an ovidrel injection, at 500 mcg instead of 250, and to use progesterone 100 mg twice a day starting two days after ovulation. Apparently if we start before then I will prevent ovulation.

Cheers,
