DH with Diabetes, Nerve Damage, Retrograde Ejaculation anyone?

Congratulations Mazie! Im so happy for you! How EXACTLY did you do the sudafed? We tried it for a few months and nothing happened. Did you ever actually FEEL or SEE any proof he ejaculated? Or was it a surprise you were preggo?

I have never seen any proof of life. LOL

Thank you! Well without being crude we did a test by hand. OH was asked to supply a sperm sample to Dr. Which seemed stupid as there was nothing coming out so we had to take an empty pot! We also took a wee sample and the sperm count in that was high so we knew that he was suffering with RE. So after some investigation on line we bought the strong over the counter sudafed and he took just two an hour before BD and two 15 min before. We did a hand test and boom! Sperm - I was so excited!lol! So then I tracked my cycle and on the egg white CM days he took the sudafed in just the same way and we BD;) we did do this for a few months and we were about to have a second app with fertility dr when I had my BFP! We were surprised and very thankful!

Wow thats awesome!!! Im going to have to try again.... ya never know, right?? we must never give up hope and you def gave us all a little!

Only problem with my DH is he is such a barfer.... another diabetes fun trait- everything makes him sick. He is convinced that one of his episodes was the sudafed, so I have to try to convince him it prob wasnt and get him to try again.

HUGS Im so happy for you!

:):):) yes give it another go! We only used sudafed one or two days a month because like you know diabetics have to be careful with everything they take!

Good luck and I totally belive sudafed did it for us to the point we even joked about giving the baby sudafed as a middle name!! Lol!!

Hi can i join please. I have two year old twins conceived through icsi. We really want to have more children but i really don't want more treatment and can't afford more. My OH has RE (nothing ever comes out), he is type 1 diabetic, he has been since he was 8 (nearly 37 now). I have read alot in to sudafed and we are going to give it ago in june. We want to get my OH on vitamins to help his sperm first though as his sample that they used to make the twins was not a good sample and thats why we had to have icsi and not just normal ivf. Have any of you guys OH's took vitamins to help? If so what? Thank you. We are thinking of taking two 60mg tablets 1.5 hours b4 ND 2 15mins b4, does this sound about right? Also ive read you shouldnt take sudafed if you r a diabetic, has it affected your OHs in anyway? My OH has high blood pressure, does any1 elses? And have any of your OHs been to docs to get something to help their erections? (sorry tmi) I think my OH may be a bit embarrssed to. Anyway it will be really nice to chat with others in the same boat as feel so alone. So pleased to find this sight xx

I am so glad I found this forum! Forgive me if I get confused with some of the acronyms, I'm kind of new to this whole forum thing!

My DH and I have been TTC officiall for about 4 months now. We talked a lot about it. He was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 12, and he's now 32 years old. We also "self-diagnosed" with RE. He went to see a urologist, but, didn't get an official diagnosis (I am working on making him a little more aware of the importance of a doctor's help!). The urologist that he did go see, though, mentioned the idea of Sudafed, without any direction. I ventured online to see what we could find, and we found that people were recommending 5-6 pills 6 hours before BD, and then another 5-6 an hour before. This seemed really extreme, but also seemed the norm, so, that's what we've been trying. It's been stressful and makes "doing the deed" difficult as you can imagine!

I'm so relieved to see that we're not alone in this, and I'm also relieved to see people having results with this Sudafed method....using LESS PILLS! I'll be giving this route a try from now on, until I can get him to revisit the doc!

Thank you all for being here! You're the reason that I signed up for this forum, and I look forward to being able to offer support to you, and receiving some from you. :flower:

In addition, we don't have any children yet. Just our dog, Tucker, who is my pride and joy. :)

Me and my SO just started the sudafed method i looked up his symptoms online and new he had RE. He also has ED so that was two things working against us. The doctor gave him penile injection medicine for his ED (none of the pills like cialis, viagra etc didnt work) i looked up online to see how to cure the RE ( or at least while we try and concieve ) and i was told to give him 4 tablets of 24 hour sudafed (brought from the pharmacist) one hour before sex , and also to try semanex along with it. This is our first month of trying and i have to say it REALLY works. He took 3 (didnt wanna go to high to fast) and hour before we BD along with his semanex (3 times daily) and he definitely..not to sound crude "filledup the bucket". There was no mistaking his "stuff" from mine. So it definitely works, but will it work for every guy i wont say yes theres no guarentees with medicine but at least sudafed gives us a good chance for this baby. Oh hes type 1 aswell. Im still in the TWW so i wont know if it worked this month but the only time he will take the sudafed is when we are TTC. Hope this helps.

I am ttc with my husband as well, inconsistently for 2 years now. He also has ESRD so that complicates things even more. Any suggestions on how to get through it?

Hello ladies.

My fiancée and I have been trying for five months now with no luck. I actually posted a new thread on this site but with no luck on answers. He is a t9 paraplegic. But he also had RE. I've read some of the post on here from the ladies and talked to him about the sudafed, he went and picked up the 30mg ones but he is to nervious to take more then one. And he doesn't want to take it before bed for fears of being up all night after. He has tryed a lot with me so far but with no luck. I'd like to know if any one has had luck on just taken the one capsule or does he really have to take like 11 pills a day lol. I really hope you ladies can help me out here :) thank you for reading and listening.

Hi, I can see this has been quiet for a while but I was wondering how people got on with the Sudafed to beat RE? Our Sudafed baby was 1 last week and we are hoping to conceive a second child soon. So I'm going out to but the Sudafed! I hope you all had sucess x x

Hello mazierocks , I know this was long ago but do u recall how many mg of suddafed each pill was ?

Hi, funny you should ask as I have recently had to remember this myself as we decided to ttc #2. It is the over the counter Sudafed and the following worked for us... 2 60mg Sudafed an hour before then 2 more 15 mins before. I track my ovulation so oh doesn't take pills unnecessarily. This has worked twice for us now :) I'm 6 weeks with number 2. Good luck! X

Hiya, I know this post has been quiet for a while but just wondering if anyone else has had any other success with Sudafed? In the same boat as a lot of you and attempting the Sudafed to see if it works. Excited and nervous about it aha.

Any help would be appreciated :) thanks! x

Im a newbie at this but ive been reading on ttc with retrograde ejaculation. my boyfriend has type 1 diabetes and has had it since he was 13. were trying for a baby but no luck so far. ive read that Sudafed is worth a try, does it have any side affects on diabetics and what is the dosage? does it matter what kind of Sudafed it is? whens the best time to take it? really want to know as much as possible about trying sudafed

thank you :)

Hi,
If you read my previous post you will see what has worked for us - first sudafed baby is 18 months and second sudafed baby is due in March.

I was concerned about side effects for other half but am not really sure what they are or if there are any. But to avoid any possible side effects I tracked my cycle obsessively!

We only ever used sudafed when my cm was the egg white type so I knew I was at my most fertile (very likely to be ovulating) that way OH wasn't taking sudafed for the sake of it. He did a test firstly, before we even stared to ttc on the sudafed plan, to make sure the sudafed was actually doing anything.

OH had had his sperm counted (the count from a urine sample of course) and it was high so that would work in our advantage.

It has to be the over the counter sudafed... Other stuff isn't strong enough.

I think each guy is different so it might just be a case of trial and error... I have read that in the USA guys are prescribed a similar drug to sudafed to combat this problem x

Thank you. My boyfriend is goin to urologist on the 30th so we shall see what they say but definately want to try sudafed x

Hi,

my husband also has this problem, he has been type 1 diabetic for 25 years. We have twin girls who are 5 from ICSI but really wish to now concieve naturally.

We are now trying Sudafed but have so far over the last 3 cycles of trying been unsucessful. My husband says it does feel different using Sudafed so hopefully something is happening!

Kat

My husband has the same issue... Type 1 for 25 years. We have been trying sudafed for a couple months and we had no idea if it was working. Well we did a little experiment, lol. When I had my period (therefor no sex or possibility of conceiving) we tried the sudafed and BJ (I know, tmi). Well nothing came out at first, but a couple minutes after, stuff started coming out! It never had before without the sudafed. So there's hope!

He also had prostate surgery (not cancer related) and his doc said RE could be a side effect but it didn't matter because he already had it anyway. With the double whammy of diabetic RE and surgery, we are really encouraged that the sudafed worked at all.

Oh, he took 4 sudafed 2hrs before, and 2 more 1/2 before. The only problem is that the sudafed made him feel really weird. Heart racing and anxiety the entire rest of the day. I would recommend using the sudafed ONLY during known fertile/O days because it is really bad to take high doses for long periods of time.

A friend of mine has a husband with RE due to previous testicular cancer. His urologist recommended Sudafed and he had an SA that showed live sperm. I'm not sure how much he's taking and he's only taking it when she's ovulating but I just wanted to give you a bit of encouragement
