I don't even know what to say...

Evidently they DID find something in the ultrasounds, and a month later, I am just now finding out.

They diagnosed me with a Circumvallate Placenta.

Does anyone know what exactly this is, can it hurt my baby/me, is this something I caused or possibly what can I do to fix it?

Please, I'm in tears right now. The doctor recommend me to a high risk specialist but couldn't tell me much.

Please, someone, give me some hope here (not false, but real, tangible hope).

Hubby and I are sick right now with worry.

really sorry to read that your having a stressful time. I've never had to deal with what you are right now but after reading your thread i Googled it to see what i could find out about the condition. seems a lot of ladies who get diagnosed with it go on to have an altogether healthy pregnancy with no issues. it looks like they were monitored over their pregnancy to ensure baby was growing on scale. i normally tell people to avoid Google at times like this as it can be the devil in disguise and people tend to post more negative stories then positive ones, but i read a thread from a different forum so i can't post the link and there was a few ladies discussing circumvallate placenta on there with that had perfectly good pregnancies. sending you a big hug hun i know how scary it can be when your worrying about your baby. xx

Thank you Squeaks...I did read Google and my goodness did I regret it.

Nick and I are just beside ourselves, because, like you said, we found 99% BAD stories and we are just terrified.

The great thing is that our baby girl is measuring in the 69th percentile, which is good because if it were bad, she'd be measuring UNDER, not over, right?

yep that is the jist of how i read it. the baby would show small for sure so that's great your baby girl is growing fantastic. the ladies who had been diagnosed said they ate a good healthy diet to ensure their babies would get the best nutrients possible. also i think complete circumvallate placenta is a worse then circumvallate placenta. it is very worrying hun i can imagine how your feeling I've been going through something similar due to me having a heart condition and the meds they offer have huge side effects to the baby. but keep positive it really does help and don't ever be afraid to ask the dr's etc questions to make sure your not sitting at home wondering things. when's your next appointment to be checked over ? hopefully they will monitor you plenty giving you peace of mind each time you go and baby is growing on track. xx

Just seems like the more I read, the more nervous we become.

They said when it's diagnosed early in pregnancy that dietary changes can be made to accommodate short comings in nutrient absorption. But, what exactly is defined as "early on in pregnancy"? Before 22wks, after, when?

Some people suggested doubling up on prenatals but my doctor said nothing about anything like that, so I have no idea, other than eating better what I can do in the next two weeks that will make the biggest impact, ya know?

Just so many unanswered questions. One thing they did say, is that it is GREAT that I don't have high blood pressure. That it benefits our daughter that at least THAT is working in our favor.
