Is stopping at 6 months unrealistic? I couldn't do it, she wouldn't have let me! I think next time, if I don't want to do it long term, I will stop before they can fully understand. The thought of having to stop now makes me want to crawl under my bed and hide.

See my mum fed me till 9 months and my sisters till the were about a year, but we just decided ourselves to stop... My MIL said that she fed OH for just over a year (just at night at the end) and his brother only till 6months, he just refused to BF anymore.
What i'm getting at is that they all decided to stop on their own, babies tend to stop themselves when they dont need it anymore...at least this is what i'm going on from what my family has said...this is what i hope!!

I stopped at 6 months but it took a while. About a month in total. Just gradually cut out a feed at a time and then about two weeks after she was 6 months, cut out the last one. Was very sad at first when I finally let the last feed go, but have actually enjoyed not being a feeding machine.

I've recently just stopped at 4 months and I thought it would be a lot harder than it has been. I think she was ready as she hasn't even looked for it since. I thought she would continue to nuzzle in on me and it would break my heart but she seems to love the bottle even more than the boobie!

my mum stopped at4months with me, but 17 months with my sister who just wouldnt give up and kept asking for "mummy drink" she's so embarrassed now!! i'd love to feed katie forever and day, but i think it'd be easier to o it sooner rather than later
