Hey there ladies,
Just very curious, did your spd go away after birth?
How long did it take to go away afterwards?
It's really not comfortable for me right now.
and its aggrevated by pretty much everything!

I had SPD and sciatica and at the end i was very uncomfy as I was so huge!

Very wierdly the sciatica went literally overnight when I had my son, it was amazing! He must have been on my sciatic nerve and "touch wood" I havnt had any problems with that since.

My SPD took a bit longer to go, it only really fully disappeared about 3 weeks ago (my son is 15 weeks) but I do still get the odd twinge now and again.

Everyone is different though and some women say they get relief quite fast with the SPD. I suppose it depends on how severe it is.

How long have you been diagnosed? I had mine from around 18 weeks so it was pretty bad, I'm dreading it next time to be honest! They say you get it earlier with each pregnancy!

Mine is a bit niggly but mine eased pretty much after the birth so i guess im lucky but i do think all the pain of the section has maybe taken my mind off it a bit...

i have heard that it can take sometime to go back to normal..

Hello!! I suffered terriblely with my hips and pelvis, I couldn't bare to wall sometimes as everthing including laying and sitting hurt sooo bad! I never was diagnosed with it but it sounded exactly like it. Mine literally went the next day , that quick! Relief wasn't the word as was dreading trying to carry a baby with the pain still!
I read up alot on recovery time and everyones responses were different. Some straight away others 6 months!! Hope yours is imediatly, it'd amazing not feeling like a knifes going into you pelvic bone every step and Turing over in bed without gritting your teeth!!

Hi i started suffering really early at 18weeks, i didnt fully recover from it till about 13 weeks pp, it was nowhere near as painful but still noticable iyswim!

I had horrible SPD since I was 26 weeks preggie. all my pelvis bones where hurting. Couldn't walk more then 5 minutes, turning in bed, stairs... The usuall staff, you know.
The moment I had my boy all the pain was gone! But now, I still have some groin pains if I walk more then 1 hour.

I was never officially diagnosed, but I used to hobble out of bed in the middle of the night from about 33 weeks pregnant to nip to the loo and half way there I'd get an almighty 'crack' sound as my pelvis realigned! It hurt like hell and the noise woke oh up once or twice. If I did anything for too long (walked, sat, lay down) my pelvis would start to ache.

The 'cracking' vanished straightaway after having lo and I didnt have any pelvic pain after a week. Hope it goes quickly for you too :flower:

I had SPD from around the beginning of 2nd trimester, and it improved significantly after birth but it didn't disappear until around 5 weeks after.

Oddly, I have an extremely painful back now instead, but I think that may have been caused by bad posture all through pregnancy because I was over-compensating when I walked because of the SPD.

I got some lower back pain for about 5 mths after having lo - always thought it was from carrying her but it's gone now and she weighs a tonne (love u lo!).

Maybe you have something there :flower:

Mine took about a week to go, but that could be because my baby was prem so I was on my feet all the time from giving birth. My friend had it and hers went away straight away though.

mine went away pretty much straight after birth.
i suppose on the more severe cases etc, it can take longer to recover from it

I was using a hip brace by the last mth of my pregnancy. I couldnt lift my left leg up the kerb, etc.

I still have a slight problem now especially after being in the car or sleeping. We even bought a new mattress to see if it would make a difference which it didnt.

I try to get to the swim pool for myself as the physio siad it was ideal exercise.

My hips stopped aching when I slept by week 3 - so happy about that!

The first pregnancy that I had SPD in, it went away within a few days.. but after having K I still have pain sometimes. Not often, but when it happens.. it hurts quite bad!

I Had the worst kind you can imagine, to give you an idea, i wasnt able to sleep on my mattress at all in 3rd tri, i used to get about 1-2 hours a night:cry:, my hips couldnt take the pressure on my side, my tail bone couldnt take the pressure sat/lying on my arse and durring the last 4 weeks i couldnt walk either, well, i could stumble to the bathroom, the last midwife appointment had me in tears pleading for induction or section.
So with it this bad i wondered the same as you.

After the birth there was mild discomfort still there, but it was mild:thumbup: and after one week the whole sorry story had dissapeared completely!:happydance:

It was 6 weeks pp for me. The day before I couldn't lift my leg to put my pants on, the day after I hadn't even realized I was walking normally until I lifted my leg to get out of the shower without howling in pain.

my SPD started when i was 16 weeks.. so by the end of my pregnancy i was in agony... but it went pretty much straight away from as far as i can remember..

it did take about 4-6 weeks to completely go... if i walked around asda to do the shoppin.. i could feel it... but it deffo wasnt as bad as when i was pregnant.. thankfully lol!!.. xx

I had really severe SPD, was on crutches and in a wheelchair and they wanted to admit me for morphine patches but I refused because LO would have been born addicted and said I'd rather have the pain. I was induced early but because I couldn't open my legs or get into a position for birth it failed and I had a section. I could walk better even after a c section but was still having Physio 4 months after. I still can't turn over in bed and it is bad when I have AF, but they didn't get worried until 3 months PP as most women are better by then :) xx

mine was not severe at all, just aching and occasional sensations like someone was stabbing me with an icepick. After birth the stabbing pain went away, but if anything my pelvis felt looser, I felt it move more, heard it click and grind more.
I was able to move around more and do things (like put pants on while standing up) as soon as my muscles were capable of doing it.

The grinding stopped maybe 12 weeks PP... but now my lower back aches if I lie down for too long (didn't even think the things might be related?.. hoping it goes away soon!)

It wasn't nearly as bad as during pregnancy though! It helped that I could finally take ibuprofen! lol!

I had SPD and sciatica too and both went virtually as soon as I had lo.
