Dilating and effacing!!!

I went to the Dr. yesterday and he checked me and said that I am 1cm dilated and 50% effaced (at 35 weeks). He said that he thought I was "ahead of the curve for my first baby" (meaning he thought I progressing quickly) and he figured that I would be a little early (38 or 39 weeks)! I know women can walk around dilated for weeks before they go into labor but my Dr.'s reaction got anxious!!! Ooooh I hope he's right!!!
Does anyone know anything about this?? I hope that I am not getting my hopes up for nothing ...I just can't wait to meet my little girl!!! xx

i was 1m dilated 0% effaced at about 35 wks...then 3 cm dilated 0% effaced to 37+6, and at 37+6 I went to 5cm and 90% in a span of 2 hours while waiting to be induced, lol

I was 50% effaced and 2 cm dialated for 2 weeks before I had my daughter. I'm 1.5 cm dialated and thinning out now at 34 weeks with these two.

at 35 weeks i was 1cm dilated and 75% effaced and my doctor seemed to think i could go anytime between 36 weeks and 40 weeks. so i could still make it full term. who knows. good luck. i hope to go a little early.

i've been 1cm dilated and 25%effaced for 2.5wks now! have another OB appt on tues and after a cpl days of cramping and interesting twinges/sensations down below (today incl) i'm curious if more opening has happened.... i know of 1 mama who was 3cm dilated for almost a month and another who walked around at 4cm dilated for almost 3wks before she actually went into labour.. guess it's all just signs our bodies and babies are getting ready!!!

My baby class instructor told us that when the doctor says ohh your .........blah blah I think you'll be early to ask him/her to place a 100 bucks down on it. She said she gets sick of women getting disappointed when they are past their due date.
