Dilation and effacement

I had a internal yesterday and the m/w said i was 2cm dilated but 1.5cm long does anyone know what that is effacement wise??

also if u had something similar how long after did u go into labour?? i know everyone is different just lookin for other ppls experiences thanks

i believe the average length of the cervix is between 3-4cm during pregnancy (mine was 4cm during a 30 wk ultrasound).
So, more than 50% effaced I'm guessing

Not a very reliable sign of labor unfortunatly. I've been 2cm & 60% effaced for a week now. My sister (who gave birth yesterday) was 2cm and 90% effaced for over 2 wks.

yeah i know lol..waiting sux..just not havin a fun time anymore we ve got extremely hot weather around 40degrees for the entire week and our a/c struggles with anything around 35
would love to be in the hossy a/c atm lol

i thought it might of been 50% thanks

im having my 3rd and the only word i understand is "dilated" i never heard of effacement before!! so can someone fil me in... i only ever got an internal when i was in active labour never at a doc appointment!

i feel a bit clueless now!!

i never knew anything about it till comin on here lol..its the thinning out of the cervix starts off at around 4cm long (roughly) tend stretches out so that theres nothing left
