Dear Ladies

We have a big family so usually we don't get really expensive gifts for christmas. Instead of getting gifts that might be insignificant to others, I am for the idea of hand made christmas presents.

I made a calendar with all the photos of the children one year and strawberry jam in small cute jars the next year. I kinda bumped for homemade gift ideas.

Suggestions anyone as I know there are some really creative ladies in here!

Hand made padded photo frames
TV remote holders for the men
Sock Monkeys for the children
Butter Tablet or fudge in pretty cellophane wrapping
Shortbread
Tea pot stands/coasters painted by the children (plain white tiles and ceramic paint)
Hand made jewellery - earrings, necklaces, tie pins, cufflinks (try a craft shop or ebay for the bits to make them)
Nice little pots/bowls with bulbs in (charity shops for the bowls)

Instructions for most of these are on line but if you want a hand then just ask :D

sock monkeys?

chocolates?

patchwork quilts?

could do calendars again but get the kids involved by using photos and asking them to draw and paint pieces of artwork?

Canvas'?

I'm making the pistacio and cranberry chocolate 'bark' this year as part of gifts. Its delicious and looks quite like hotel chocolat stuff :D I'll just cut it into bars and put it in cellphane bags :) I'll also do Nigellas spiced nuts recipe and put them in jars. too. Need to find cheap jars still :dohh:

sock monkeys are made from a pair of socks. there are templates on the net. basically, you follow the tempaltes, draw lines on inside of socks, stitch either side of line and then cut (to make legs). once all bits are done you turn them back the right way, stuff with toy stuffing/inside of pillow etc and stitch eyes and mouth on! they are very easy to do even if you dont have a machine. my older 2 have them in various sizes and colours and love them.
