Do all babies go through sleep regressions - or are some just good sleepers!?

My first baby was a HORRIBLE SLEEPER. As a newborn he slept in 45 minute stretches day and night. Took hours of rocking/shushing to ever get him asleep through the whole first year and then he'd still be up 3 times. Every month, I'd be googling 3 month sleep regression, 5 month sleep regression, 8 month sleep regression... things always just seemed to get worse. He just started sleeping through the night around 20 months, just in time for baby number 2 to come along.

She's totally different. She wakes up once to feed around 3am and that's it, almost 2 months old. No rocking necessary, just her paci and she'll drift off on her own. Are some babies just good sleepers - no regressions - all the way through!? Or will I be googling 3 month sleep regression again here in the next couple weeks :sleep::sleep:

DD started sleeping 9-9 without any wake ups at 5 weeks and never went through any regressions. She's just always been a fabulous sleeper and great at self settling. :)

FX your new bundle continues to let you get some sleep!

DS has always been a good sleeper but a pain to get to sleep until he hit 14months and started going bed on his own with no help, he was effected by EVERY sleep regression lol.
DD has been an amazing sleeper since the day she was born, no fighting to sleep and has been sleeping a 10/11hr stretch since 4wks, we are just about to hit 4 months & I've got my fingers crossed we don't have to go through it again :dohh:

My second baby (DS) is 5 days off being 1 and has always been a fab sleeper. He self settles and sleeps all the way through without a peep for 12-12.5 hours. I didn't even think it was possible for a baby to sleep so well at night! No sleep regressions or wake ups from teething or anything - fingers crossed your new baby follows suit, it is possible! My first baby was also horrendous so I know the fear of a second bad sleeper! The only thing I will say is that DS naps for 30-45 mins the entire day and that is it. But a small price to pay for lots of lovely sleep at night imo!

My youngest has been a great sleeper, sleeping through 12 hours since seven weeks but now we have hit 5 months she has started waking up :(
The other night she was waking every two hours but last night we just had one wake up so I'm hopeful that it's a temporary thing.

Both my boys are fantastic sleepers, sleeping 7-7 from early on and Ive never really had a problem with sleep regressions. Maybe a few nights of waking once or twice but they go straight back to sleep. They also were encouraged to self settle from 6 weeks old so I dont rock or feed them to sleep. Ive been on this site for a few years now and read lots of threads on this and it seems babies that can self settle dont really have a problem with sleep regressions or get off more lightly. Just my obversation though. Others may disagree.

My dd was a fabulous sleeper and we had no problem with regressions until 19 months. But the problems were also linked to an 8 week holiday back home, moving apartments as soon as we got back and then her father moving out.
Some are just good sleepers!

Some are just good sleepers. Some of those "good sleepers" can also face sleep challenges at an older age. Leo is a lot easier than Violet, but he's still had sleep "regressions." Those regressions are easier than what Violet's norm used to be though.

Some babies are just better sleepers! My first was a disaster, 2nd has always slept well, no regressions in sight! :flower:

My first was a great sleep- usually woke sometimes when teething was bad as she would get multiple teeth in at once. My second started out as a fantastic sleeper and now this past month (she is almost 9 months) she has been horrible at times and I'm not sure why. So I think you can't really predict! Hope yours stays a good sleeper!!

My LO was sleeping 12 hours a night from 7 weeks old and I can count on one hand the amount of times she has woken in the night since then (she's now 2). She's always loved her sleep.
I'm just hoping this next baby loves sleep as much!

I hate to say, my DD started off as a dream sleeper - would sleep 10 hours right through from about 6-8 weeks old but now we're having difficulty putting her down to bed and multiple night wakings :\ I always thought something had to give haha.

I hope things will remain awesome for you, though!

Ashlin was a great sleeper early on. She regressed a little at 6 months due to teething and regressed again 10-12 months due to her molars coming in

I think so because my youngest is a sleep fighter where my eldest slept very well. lol
