Do formula fed babies need water??

This is my first baby but I figured I would let you know how feedings are going since my baby is 5 days old as well! He is pretty consistant eats every 2 hours about an ounce and a half ( I THINK thats about 30 mLs??). He is a lot more alert at night time and sleeps through out the entire day, only to wake up to eat! I have just made the decision to switch to formula exclusively so this may change after we finish the expressed breast milk to day.
