Do GP's accept private test results? [UK]

Hey,

I'm going through fertility testing after TTC for 15 months and my GP understandably needs my partner to have a sperm analysis before she can proceed with my fertility referral.

My partner spends nearly all his time with me but he is not registered with my Doctor as he wants to stick with his at home [long story!]. He can't really arrange his SA through his Doctors so we are wondering about going privately for the test but my question is really, is the GP likely to accept this or want one done by them sort of thing?

I work in a gp surgery and i know that if any results etc from a private hosp we get they are added to your notes, the only problem i can see is even if you get them done you could only really show the gp them or might add them to your notes with ur oh consent? Hope this helps x

Thank you That's a good point with getting it added to my notes. I think he'd be happy to come in to my appointment to show the results so hopefully that is an avenue we can go down if all else fails.

My hubby and I go to the same dr surgery but I got my dr to call him about his SA and she has booked it at the local hospital so in our area it happens at the dr and not the dr surgery anyway. Could be worth asking your dr what she would recommend x

Just out of interest what tests are you going to be referred for? I have had a few tests on the nhs and just wondering if there's anything else I can ask for x

My Doctor is calling in 2 weeks after bloods next week so will double check with her what she needs.

Mrs W - So far I've had a scan which showed no cysts though that was done by accident as was having a scan for kidneys! Also had swabs done to check for any infection that might stop it & smear test. Now having CD 21 bloods done to confirm ovulation. Then that's it so far apart from referral to the fertility specialists where I guess there is more to come?!! What have you had done?

I had day 21 progesterone to check I was ovulating, day 3 lh and fsh and to check all ok with my eggs and a scan which all came back normal. I only have one ovary though so I'd like an hsg to confirm my tube is open, no idea if that's possible on the nhs x
