hello everyone.

joshua is currently on 4oz every 3 hours and he finishes it every time.

at his feed at 7ish PM he has 5oz.

im just wondering wether or not i should up him to 5oz.

i dont want to over feed him.
if i up it to 5oz will he still want to be fed every 3 hours.

yesterday he had a couple of bottles at 5oz coz he didnt seem satisfied.

last night he has a feed at

7pm- 5oz
2am - 4oz
6am - 4oz
8am - 4oz

should i just leave him at 4oz

i have been advised that if chloe is sucking on the bottle when its empty then its time to go up an oz

Alasdair started guzzling 7 oz at 2 weeks...it's actually gone down now and he has between 4 oz (middle of the night feed) and 6 oz. I was told really not to worry about how much you give them, the guidelines on the back are rubbish and all babies grow at different rates and stuff. I seriously don't think you can overfeed a baby. And if Ally just wants it for comfort he only sucks the bottle and doesn't actually take any milk in.

I'd up his feed :) he won't take it if he doesn't want it.

^ same if baby is taking 4 or close to up to 5 ...if 5 or close to up to 6 etc.

joshua had a 4oz bottle at 5 and he has just had a 5oz bottle at 6.30

im gonna up him tomorrow to 5oz.

how often will he take 5oz do you think?

If your baby is emptying the bottle i would definately up an oz... purely because of the air intake at the end of the bottle even is 4oz exact was filling enough.

If you up it, the feeds will probably be as frequent. As baby's stomach is getting bigger and therefore needs more milk to fill it

times prob wont change. Chloe has started to miss feeds out now rather than have longer breaks, eg she wont always wake for 11pm feed

Agree with everything the others have said :D

is itok for him to be having 5oz every 3 hours at his age?

i guess that if i give him 5o he will just take what he wants.

Feed on demand hun. Kaleas on 5oz every 4hrs and she often tries to push me for more.

He'll let you know if it's too much. Just because you do a 5 ounce bottle doesn't necessarily mean he has to eat the entire thing every time. We do 4 ounce bottles for Hannah, usually she eats between 3-4 ounces, occassionally she eats the entire bottle and every once in a while we have to make an extra ounce. We let her dictate how much she eats

Yep up to 5oz, if you find that the baby is finishing 1-2 of these in a day then up to 6oz

well so far today he has had 2 5oz bottles and finished both.

the last one he was still sucking at the teat after it had all gone.

:) thats great, I'd up to 6oz now

really?

ill go through the rest of the day nd see if he takes every bottle and then might up him.

are you sure i cant over feed him?

x

no, up it! it freaked me out how much Chloe was having, she's on 8oz every 3 hours now, but she's much happier between feeds and settles at night, even misses a night feed now at age I dont think over feeding is an option!!

no if he wants it, is coping with it and is keeping it down they give him what he wants/when he wants it :)

Just stick to the rule if they are draining a couple of bottles then add an extra oz to each bottle :)

he does bring up some milk sometimes but only a little.

Chloe always spits a bit up but i think thats cos she drinks it so quick!! I wouldn't worry if its just a bit
