that is my biggest fear, since i haven't gotten a BFP yet. i have all the symptoms of it... but i also have all the symptoms of a hypochondriac, googling 24/7.

anywho, had a transvaginal ultrasound done, which showed a cyst on my right ovary. if i had endometriosis, do you think the ultrasound would've picked it up?

hi....im no doctor but i dont think they are linked in any way. I had a cyst on my left ovary ...the whole ovary was removed. I now have polycysts on my left ovary.....have had 2 internal scans done & 2 normal scans done...everything else was checked ( uterus lining....the way the womb is laying...etc) nothing was said about this so im sure if you had it it would of been mentioned. maybe 4 peace of mind ring your doctor & ask if they can go through your full report of the ultrasound. I got full reports from all of mine.

take care xx

I think it is possible if the cyst is an endometrioma. Did they tell you what type of cysts does yours look like? my u/s showed a small cyst on my ovary possible endometioma or dermoid. The only way to find out which one of the two it is is to do a laparoscopy- Something i'm not keen on. If However you have a functional cyst (most common) it would usually go away by itself. good luck. What you need to know about endo is that some have a mild form with lots of symptoms or severe endo with v little or no symptoms at all. Good luck hun.

Yeah, the doctor never told me what type, just that it should go away on its own and to come back in 4 weeks.

If it's still there I plan on having them discuss it with me, I hate not knowing! But thank you very much!

If the doc told you that it would go away it's probably functional . So that's good. Endometriomas or dermoids require laparoscopy and they look different on the scan so the doc would usually tell you if it is one of these.

Hi
I've had functional cysts and endo.
It sounds to me like it might be a functional cyst. I've had a few of them over the years that just come and go each month.
Also had the 'chocolate' cysts that you get with endo.
When I had functional cysts found, they sometimes got me to go back for another tv scan at a different point in my cycle so they could see if it had grown/shrunk according to the point in my cycle I was at. Maybe if you're very worried you could have another scan done ?

take care
xx

Yeah, going in for another ultrasound in 3 weeks. Geez, I still have pain, I highly doubt it even went away, it feels like it is growing!

I think it might be a functional cyst... do you know what the odds are of conceiving with a functional cyst? I'm worried out of my mind!!

Good luck with your second scan. I hope it turns out to be functional :)

Sorry don't know about chances of conceiving. I do know that my docs weren't particularly worried by the functional cysts - but then again I wasn't ttc at that time
Sorry to hear you're in pain. It sucks! I think my endo is coming back - been in pain since last week now :( grrr

you should see the doc if you're in a lot of pain..if it grows too big it may burst or twist your ovary and you might end up loosing it...and you don't want that!!! If it hurts a lot go and see the doc. do you know how big the cyst was?
In aswer to you'r Q..I've not read anything on the topic but a friend fell pg when her functional cyst was 6cm and the cyst stayed there throughout her pregnancy...so I think it is possible, but you should monitor it.
xxxx
good luck!

yes, ME TOO!!! if they are anything other than functional, hopefully the doctors will help me out and do what they can about possibly removing them or finding a way to rid them.. although, i've read a lot about them... and they only remove them if they're huge.

hopefully it isn't hitting you again... i see you're ttc.

:dust: for you!!!

if i get any bad news, maybe it's my body's way of telling me i'm not quite ready.. (although i am!!!) and in the future i hope that the stork comes to visit me.

Yeah I've been ttc for just over a year now without success.
Planning on going to the doc soon to start the process of getting tests and stuff done. But then the pain started up so I'm probably going back to the docs about that too!
I have been told that if you have endo and you have a lap, there is a window of about 6 months where your chances of conceiving are higher after the op. Dunno how true it is but that's what I was told on National Endo Society forum.

Hope you have some good news xx
