Do Planned C Sections happen before 40 weeks??

weather you have a section at 38 weeks or 40weeks unless you have went into labour baby is still being delivered before it would have came itself. its not forcing a baby out if it has good reason to be born c section so you dont go into labour. at 37weeks its fullterm so techincally it is ready to be born but obv its better to wait till closer to 39weeks.

your will be fine dont worry. i had my ds 38+6

plus most people that have sections are for good reason :)
i think its funny when some people who have never had a section want one for no good reason lol if only they knew its not as easy as they think.

Its as if ur responding to what i said. I said for me there is no reason for the baby to come any earlier as of now there isnt any extra risk for me. I didnt say for anyone else its forcing the baby out i ment my daughter camre @ 41 weeks and i would like to delay it as much as possible. Unless there was any risks such as pre e etcc. Because my situation was due to failure to progress etc and i couldnt go any longer as my water broke 48 hours before she came. And " tech the baby is ready to be born" that is actualy always true if they get the due dates wrong or alittle bit off they could be delivering the baby @ 36 weeks instead of 37 and that has happened which is another reason i prefer to wait aslong as possible if theres no reason for me to deliver earlier

Also what do you consider no good reason? I agree people who opt for sections for certian reasons i think perhaps they dont know what its like but then for them to want a section a major surgery that i found teriefying they must have had it bad!

well yes in your case then theres no risks or reason to be born before your due date.

well good reason would be anything that could put you or baby at risk if born vaginally or health reason or previous bad birth things like that.
i just mean people who are childless or never had a section want one just cos they dont want a normal birth or for a reason that doesnt put them or baby at risk ect. some people think its so easy but its not.

I get what u mean id love to avoid c section at all costs with my emc i didnt even have the possibility of a section on my raider it was devstating! Xx

I decided to have my planned section at 37+2. Everything went great!

Mine is scheduled for 39 weeks. But if I start to progress around 38 they will take her then to have me avoid going into labor. Good luck!!

I have mine booked for 38 weeks on 11th October due to low placenta x

i had my ELCS at 39 weeks due to problems with my pelvis.

My ELCS is booked for 38+3 due to previous traumatic labour, GBS positive status with allergy to abx so risk to baby if waters break, plus baby keeps going from back to back to transverse!xx

ive been told that I must have another section, midwife said that it will be as close to my due date as possible!

Unless i get pre-eclampsia or i start to labour myself x

hell yes otherwise they risk baby coming along vaginally. so usually at 39 weeks but this is for baby more than mummy, as the longer they are in the better unless it gets to 41 weeks plus. i mean i had to have an emcs at 37 weeks and it was too early for bubs and she needed oxygen but only for a few minutes and a special baby unit over night for observation but generally 39 weeks is good as baby is full term, well they are full term at 38 weeks some medical professionals say 37 weeks but my girl wasnt

sorry to rant on but yeah most places its 39 weeks unless u go into labour then they just do the section then :D as long as you are in the first stage of labour

Mine was scheduled for 39 weeks (the earliest they prefer to do it due to baby's lungs) but I ended up having it at 38+4 as there was a free slot :haha:
