Hello

Hope you don't mind me posting on here but some advice would be much appreciated.

DH & I have been TTC #1 since December 2007. I found out I was pregnant at the beginning of January 09 - just as I was going to make an appointment with my GP as we had been TTC for a year with no success.

Unfortunately I had a miscarriage in February and am not sure what do to. Should we carry on trying for a few more month or make an appointment to see my GP? What do the doctors do to start off with? I get the feeling I will be fobbed off as I don't really have a good relationship with my GP. But I am nearly 33 and feel my clock ticking very loudly.

xx

Because of your age, I would go. A year is the amount of time that you should go...and who knows, maybe it will happen sooner this time, but another year is a long time to wait. GL and keep us posted.

I agree.

I agree as well. It takes a while to get to a GP, then a specialist if you need to. Waiting longer doesn't make sense. And... you can keep on trying until all of that happens.

Good luck!

I did go to my gp after i had my 1st mc,only its was about 5 months after the mc. Like you i was worried about my age as up here they dont take you on with ivf etc (on nhs) is you're 40 or over. And i was 38 already....

Anyway, just want to warn you your gp might say what mine said- which was to come back when have ttc for a year, counting from the mc.

If he doesnt say that then happy days!!! :)

Fingers crossed and good luck, hun!

Hiya, firstly so sorry for your loss

I would suggest making an appointment and ask for a referral for blood tests - as you have been pregnant they might fob you off but try and be strong and insist you get those initial tests as they might pick up a simple thing that is treatable now..

I'm 33 like you and when I went to my fertility consultant he made a point of saying he wanted to get tests rolling asap as my age was against me

Good luck!!!

hi Luca....i'm so sorry to hear of your loss....:hugs:

i'd say that you should go for it.......you really have nothing to lose....

i was due to have my first hospital appointment in Feb of last year after trying for a year but cancelled as i found out i was pregnant. It wasn't to be though and i had a miscarriage......i got pregnant again in Oct but had a second miscarriage in Dec (twins). After we were physically healed, we went and got a referral. I'm 30, but i also have severe arthritis so can't take any meds......the longer i try for a baby, the worse my arthritis gets......i'm fortunate that the docs want to help me now.....

we had our first appoiintment 2 weeks ago....just an asessment....going back in May....until then....we carry on trying.....

referrals can take time, as can the time between appointments.....if you can get them on your side....then you should go for it.....

take care....

luv & hugs
:hugs:
