Do you let your babies crawl around shops, cafes etc?

Aside from the dirt, I wouldn't because I wouldn't be able to sit and relax with him crawling about (not that he is crawling yet!), and would just be following him everywhere anyway :)

Cant you take your coffee to go and then find a patch of grass or something around so she can crawl about? get a long wrist strap and put it on her. so she cant go too far. =/ Sounds like im pinning a baby down like a dog =X we do this with the little girl we all do play dates with. ecept the strap as theres 5 adults to 3 kids so plently to run after her if she gets to far.

i didn't let him crawl around. but now he's walking i do.
it used to just depend on where we were and how busy it was if i got him out of the pushchair.
but now he's walking he wont' sit still so i have to get him out!

It rains pretty much every day at the moment so can't crawl about outside unfortunately, and once it stops raining it'll snow so not much better.

No - for this reason I don't go to cafes as she wouldn't sit in the buggy

No i never.

People could trip over them, the manky floors yuk.

V xx

No I don't leave him crawl on the floor I just think for me the floors are way to dirty,I think that is the main thing for me I know dirt is ok for them but that is too much dirt

Would totally depend on where we were. Library, playgroups, community centre, beach, sandbox, park, my backyard: yes!

Restaurant, shopping mall: no

Maybe if we did more adult things my answer would be a little different. But right now the only place I take LO that isn't for him is the grocery store. And there he spends his time in a wrap/carrier. We never really did the restaurant/cafe scene before having him either though.

Not trying to sound snotty. Just a bit of a boring mom who doesn't get out much for her own outings :)

Yep I do, only if she's not going to be in anyone's way though and if it's carpet and in decent condition. I know public places are filthy, but I figure it must do some good for her immune system. I have gotten looks too, but I guess that's to be expected.

My lo is the same, dosnt matter how many toys we have,he wants to be either crawling or cruising. If its a quiet cafe,i let him down,im not bothered of a little dirt, wont hurt him. I dont let him get under peoples feet,if he becomes a pain,we go x

A bit at the library I think is fine but not at a cafe - partly because others are also enjoying their own space and I wouldn't want my child wandering around the other tables disturbing other patrons. That and the yuck carpets, the potential for hot drinks and all in all I just think that its best to not set the precedent that its okay to roam around at a cafe or restaurant which would probably not be considered good manners down the road.

We don't really frequent cafes per se, but when we go to a restaurant we keep it speedy, have some favorite snacks on hand, a small toy in my purse and promptly leave when he starts to lose it.

:coffee:

We have just came back from Turkey, and i let Archie crawl in the restaurants/internet cafes/ bars. So long as they are not in the way i dont see a problem with it. dirt wise... surely there is more dirt & germs on the grass x

yes i let him crawl about cafes but only if its not busy and i always make sure i get a table near a corner so i can baricade him in abit with two chairs lol. I dont do it round shops as in our area its always busy in the shopping centre.
