Do you premake your formula then store in the fridge?

Yes have done since lo has been on formula (2 weeks old). Never keep longer than 24 hours.

No, always prepared fresh feeds. xx

ETA: I used to keep hot water in a flask & pre-boiled cold water in a bottle. Then add 1 oz of hot water +all powder, stir, then top up with cold water.

I don't do any of these. I half fill a bottle with cooled boiled water. Boil the kettle when I need it, top it up to the right level then add the powder.

I don't do any of those either. We don't boil our water, we use bottled water and liquid formula. The pediatrician told us we did not need to boil as we did not touch the formula with our hands since it's liquid in a can. I just mix half and half like the can says to and store in the fridge. The can says to use within 48 hours but she goes through all six 6 oz Bottles in about 30 hours so it's never a problem for us.

erm i dont no which one to click i boil water let it coil for 30mins put it in the bottle then place bottle in fridge when i need the bottle i just heat up the water then add formula then use the bottle within 2hours xx

I make bottle up with 6oz of boiled water then heat up and add formula when LO isa due a feed.

Yes I premake. Use water after 30 mins, quick cool down in freezing water then fridge. I use within 12 hours x

um i dont really have an option to choose. i premake my formula but i dont boil water i buy baby nursery water.

my premaking goes like this:
midnight (roughly bedtime for me) i premake 3 bottles
Lo feeds at 7am, 9:30am, 2/3:30pm
wash and sterilize bottles
premake 1 bottle
Lo had bedtime bottle at 7:30pm
then wash and sterlize and premake 3 bottles at midnight again.

if he wakes in the night for a bottle then i just make 2 up after the first 3 are gone.

I premake my bottles. I boil the kettle, let it cool down for 30 mins, make up my bottles, cool them down as quickly as I can and the put them in the fridge. They're all used within 24 hrs. On the odd occasion that they aren't they get thrown away.

The reason I premake, I did with my other two, as the formula powder is not sterilie, so even if you heat water up from the fridge then add formula unless nearly boiling it is not killing the bacteria. So when you premake with boiling water the bacteria has been killed. As long as the feeds are cooled quick, and chucked in the back of the fridge and used up within 24 hours it is fine.

I think the only reason you have to wait 30 mins is if you were preparing the feed fresh to use straight away otherwise I dont see the point in waiting for the kettle to cool for 30 mins, what other reason would there be?

I don't know if this counts, I use follow on milk to mix in LO's foods and I premix 300ml of it and store in the fridge and use it over the course of 3-4 days.

So you dont scorch the milk

I just looked about and one website says its because of when bottles used to contain that BPA and the boiling water would make it leak one other site says it kills nutrients.

Heres a good link
https://www.cks.nhs.uk/patient_information_leaflet/bottle_feeding/how_it_is_performed

It just says dont cool for no more than 30 mins, so Im sure ten or 15 mins is fine.

Also not wanting to keep repeating myself but been on loads of sites now and it is defo OK to use boiled water before 30 mins, safer for yourself to leave it a little as it can scald you my own experience lol, the reason is defo that it wouldnt be hot enough to kill the bacteria in the powdered formula. No mention of scorching milk, to be honest hun never heard of that one.

I make each one fresh during the day but premake for the night.

Your supposed to leave it for 30 mins to "protect the structural integrity of the bottle"
