At 41, I don't usually feel old......until I start seeing threads and posts from people considerably younger than me, complaining they are old. :dohh:

PMSL Lyns, i so know how you feel!!! When i was in my late 30's i never even contemplated i was old to have a baby!! Its only when i turned 40 that i thought a bit about it and then thought well what the hell!! It annoys me when people say, oh you have not as much energy as a 20yr old..but i remember having children at that age and they are as exhausting for a 20yr old as they are for a 40yr old!! I know, i can compare!!!

:rofl::rofl: I know what you mean, I feel sorry for them coz it's thinking like that, that makes you old.

I don't feel my age at all and to be honest don't really think about it much. I think age is a state of mind more than anything else. When I was a girl my grandma always used to say, "one day you'll know better" - I'm still waiting for that day. Oh, and I'm 45 :hugs:

Hey girls,
I like this thread cause after having the NHS docs stressing and underlining my age over and over I find myself asking the same question to myself all the time. I just had my 37th bd and it feels like I spent a whole year wondering about this. I'd like to boooh the docs who make you feel so insecure if you don't mind :))
I just wish there was a little mirror that I can show up to my eggs, or they could just start communicating simultaneously and let me know about their age :))) Lol

Hey Skye

I know how you feel on the doctor issue, I have recently changed my specialist as the lady doc at the hospital was always being so negative and going on about my age even when all the tests had come back completely fine. In the end I became so sick of leaving her office feeling upset and down like I would never get my BFP that I found another doc.

My new docs are a small and not fancy clinic but with a great reputation and they are so positive. I always look forward to seeing them as they explain everything and tell me that 37 is not old and that they have patients in their early 40's having successful pregnancies. I now feel confident that I will achieve a BFP.

I think that having a good doc makes all the difference in TTC, god knows it can be stressful enough without having a downbeat doctor. Maybe ask friends if they have seen a good doctor with the NHS as you are always entitled to ask to see someone else.

Take care and hope you get a BFP very soon :hugs:

I dont normally feel old - gonna be 36 in sept and was even asked to show id when buying alcohol last year for our Halloween Party - that lady made my day LOL:happydance:

However, recently i cant help feeling 'old' as i just dont seem to be catching - i was 27 when i got pregnant with my first (which sadly ended with a stillbirth) and 29 with my DD and both times, we caught in the first month of ttc. My third and fourth pregnancies which both ended with early m/c took ages to conceive and now we have been ttc since again since last month and i just feel so scared at what may or may not happen :nope: - especially when they highlight the additional risks of abnormalities etc.

Nice to be able to say these things on this forum and also to share experiences with women in the same age group.

I don't feel old either, and co-incidentally, neither does my mum! I was famously asked for id in Asda last year so i obviously don't look anything near my age but more importantly i have a very youthful outlook, which i think very much helps and more importantly probably is the reason - apart from the actual looks, lol!

Do i worry about ttc at this age? Hm, i think it would be a lie if i said i it never crosses my mind. But honestly its more of a how long do i have to wait as opposed to im doomed etc. Also, knowing that fewer eggs only means longer ttc ( as told by fertility specialist) means that i try to be more pragmatic about my situation.

It doesn't really matter in the long run cause i am the age i am and im not stopping until i have a baby therefore whether im 29 or 40 (which i am) id still feel the same way about it i.e. ' where is my bfp!!' :)

I only feel old because I don't have a child, but it will not affect my TTC. Obviously, I don't have the same chances of a 20 year old, because you are at your most fertile then. What I will say is I won't be giving up. If am having periods, then I can get pg.

I don't feel old. Mind, I don't really look it and I deffo don't act it

I reckon that "older" mum's can actually be better because you have more patience, more life experience, more self confidence and generally more money than a 20 year old :haha:

Big it up for all the older mothers. Lol. They should have a BFP group for the over 35's, so we can see at a glance, the older mothers getting BFP's. I may suggest it.

I don't really feel old physically but yesterday I found out I am having a miscarriage (which is impending) no bleeding yet but beta levels suck and so does progesterone, along with my preg tests getting lighter every day:( , then found out 2 friends I went to high school with died in the last 3 days, both 38 years old. That has made me feel old, cause if it can happen to them, it can happen to me. One died in her sleep, the other found dead at home due to possible blood clot.

WE really should treasure every single day.

I'm so sorry for all the bad news you've had lately :hugs:.....yes it's times like that, that can make any of us feel old.

I totally agree with your sentiments of treasuring everyday. In the last 3 years, my daughter was born with cancer, I have had cancer and I have lost 2 babies. But I'm still here (so is my daughter), I'm still living, loving and laughing and I'm still trying for number 2.

But most importantly I'm grateful for every day, and I will never moan about period pain or a cold again!!!!!!!

Mel and Lyns- you are some very strong women, I know God has great blessings in store for each of you:hugs:

Lyns--I admire you! so positive and strong after enduring so much.
:hugs: to you, daughter, and family.

Why not have a thread instead? A BFP thread would be visible enough for us, no? I suggest the next preggo person starts it, or whomever remembers when the next lucky lady pops up :)

Yeah a thread would be the second best thing, threads get swamped after a while, so not always visible. The beauty of a group is that new comers well see it exists straight away. With a thread you would need to know it exists and have to start routing around imo. Besides the next preggo over 40 may not be reading this thread. So let's hope one of us gets a BFP to start the thread, I s'pose it would be better than nothing Lol :flower:

Im 43 and usually dont feel my age...i have been this last week tho cos i not been well with one thing or another..been feeling more like 60 the last few days lol.

As far as trying to get pregnant is concerned, i still feel that im young enuff to do it and get cross that it dont seem to be happening lol

I'm 38 years young. I think my kids keep me young 19, 18, 10 and I'm told I still look like i'm in my 20's wooohooo!!!
