Hey guys!! I've had several postivite tests in the past few weeks and i have a appointment with my obgyn in two weeks. I haven't been feeling the greatest so i took a test well before my period was due and got a postitive result! I went to a friend of mines ultrasound facility! She has a place where she can determine gender at 15 weeks. she did a ultrasound on my abdomen and i was so sure she wouldnt be able to see anything considereing i was thinking i was only atleast 4-5 weeks and with out a interal unltrasound its generally harder to see! Anyhow we seen what looks like 3 sacs. and atleast one baby, the more i look at them i feel like i see 2 babies...I've only had single pregnancies so any moms out there with multiples please give me your opinions!! she generally doesnt do ultrasounds until 15 weeks so she said just to wait a few more weeks till i see my doctor! I know with my last pregnancy i went early and only seen 1 sac!! Peeing constantly, starving let sick, very tired and bad headaches!!! Please help!!!

well some of the 'sacs' could be blood from implantation bleeding which can happen and show on an u/s. at 4-5 weeks u generally wont see any fetal pole, and I don't see one here. You could have more than one in there its really too early to tell. Generally twins+ are identified after at least 6 weeks when fetal poles can be identified. I don't see any yolk sacs either, but that could be because your so early or that she didnt have the probe turned in the right direction as sheusually only does second trimester scans (thats what you said right?) Look at my avatar picture of my twins at 7 1/2 weeks. You can see the fetal poles in my picture and there are none (at least obvious ones) in yours, because u are so early. You may have one in the bigger "sac" at the top, but its kind of hard to see your picture, as its sideways and hazy. A few things can make you look like you have multi sacs in very early pregnancy. But multi pregnancy wont be confirmed by "sacs" alone at this stage. Take the picture when u go into see ur doctor, and they'll probably give you another ultrasound if they think you may have multiples. Not saying you probably don't in fact, it does look promising for more than one, but you are soo early its just hard to tell. Good luck!

i wonder is one of those could be an ovary?

i would guess by week 6-7 it would be more definitive. good luck!

I also think it's too soon to tell...wait until you get your "proper" scan...good luck!!

ooh sorry i dont really know. im expecting twins which we found out at 7 wk scan. but mine are in same sack so look different to yr scan. sorry i couldnt help

even as a radiologist who reads these, i have no idea what that picture is trying to show. at 4 wks the hypoechoic areas are far far too large to be gestational sacs. transabdominal ultrasound can only reliably see sacs greater than 6wks. those look like loops of bowel

Hey guys!! Thanks do
Much! This was done in my abdomen and she's guessing I'm 6-7 weeks

i have no idea what im looking at never seen anything like it :-/ all the twin scans i saw are like the ladies avatar above :-/ my scan in my avatar was done at 7 weeks and was done abdominaly so really if your friend thinks you are nearly 7 weeks you should have seen something similar
i would take no notice of this scan and wait for proper one hun :) your friend does scans to determine gender not to size up and put an age on a pregnancy :-/

if you go on this website then the third and second picture show you both identicle and non identice pregnancys at your gestation :)

if u were 6-7 weeks, you would 100% see a fetal pole etc. And you said she scanned your abdomen? like your belly?? That's where you would scan in later pregnancies, like you said your friend is used to, but not early pregnancies.... You could scan the pelvis in early pregnancies, even for pregnancies around 12 weeks, you would scan the pelvis. so knowing that I would agree with drsquid that those are probably not gestational sacs at all. By 6-7 weeks you would have very clear fetal poles either way. Good luck either way.

^^ wss at 7 weeks i could even see lo heart beating and when she scanned me she scanned accross the top of my pubic bone :)

when I went in for my scan at 5 weeks my ovaries were still pretty large and they looked like sacs. My ovaries almost kept me from seeing the sac and the yolk. Not sure if this will help. I would say two of thos might still be your ovaries filling with fluid and you might have two sacs in there. Hopefully you get another scan soon so you can get some clarity!

i had a scan done at 4 weeks 5 days with my 1st and could clearly see my little sac and yolk attached to the wall of my uterus. Looks nothing like this picture. It was a lot smaller. To me your picture does not look like sacs at all. However im not trained. At this stage it highly likely that it would of been to small to even see on an abdo scan. And if it was the scan would of needed to be done on your pelvis. Your next scan should show you for sure

Keep us updated! This is such an intriguing story to follow!! :flower:

loops of bowel and bladder can look like large sacs. But not likely that this is sacs as early as you are. It's a shame they couldn't do a transvaginal. But Hopefully you will find out in a couple weeks! Good luck.

Please keep us updated on the results. Take the scan pic to the Drs and see what he thinks.

Agreed!

It actually looks like an ovary to me with three large cysts-maybe the ovary that produced the egg (the coprus luteum is quite large until the placenta takes over). The sacs wouldnt be that big at this stage.

But you never know.

What a shocker that would be!

I hope you will update us when you get your proper scan hun! xx

Fascinating pic!! Hope you can get another scan off your friend soon and let us know!!!

I am pregnant with triplets but my scan looked different to this, when I had it at 7 weeks. On mine there was clearly two black sacks similar to the sack in leahsbabybump profile picture above. There was two babies in one sack and one in the other.

I don't think this scan is very clear at all, especially if a radiologist can't make sense of it. I would just assume it is one baby myself. Congratulations on your pregnancy!
