Were going to try for our first baby in august does it matter that I'm 26 and my fiancé is 36?

I'm not sure I understand what your question is? Does what matter?

Not at all, better to start now than past 40. Good luck to you both Xx

I'm assuming that you're female... Do you mean the fact that your OH is older? Not as much of a problem for men. There hasn't been a huge amount of research to show that a man's fertility decreases with age to the extent a woman's does. But even so, 36 is still a healthy age for a man's fertility so there shouldn't be any age-specific issues for him.

If your OH is female and older, it may be a little harder to conceive so don't wait a full year of conceiving before seeking help - six months is enough to refer to a specialist if a woman is over 35.

If it's just the age difference itself, shouldn't be an issue either way. Good luck! :flower:

Hi thanks for responses i didn't make question very clear! I'm a female aged 26 and my oh is 36! People are saying I'm a little old!

Far from it! You are in the optimal age to have a child.

Well that's ridiculous, 26 is no where near 'too old' people amaze me with their statements sometimes. If 26 is 'too old' then I guess I might as well give up trying! LOL :haha:

Yeah, that. :haha:

I'm (nearly) 31 and only starting to get the "you're at a good age to have a baby" statements since I turned 30 - before that (OH and I married at 24) I had years of people telling me I was too young!

Oh good god!!!
Some people are ridiculous!

I say any time before 50 is good to have a baby.

Don't worry about other people, do what is best for you and your family!

I think it's because me and my fiancé have been together almost 10 years and people just presume you have children straight away! I have never been for a smear test and have decided to book myself in for Tuesday to make sure everything below is ok!

i had my son at 28  first baby aswell x

MY DH and I didn't get married until we were 36, had our 1st child at 37 and God willing our 2nd at 39!

I think FOR ME that in my early 20's it was easier for me to get pregnant. I am 34 and OH is 32. When I got pregnant with my 2 boys I was 20 and 22. I got pregnant with them the first month we tried. I am now on month 6 of ttc.

Were going to start trying while on holiday in august as I have only just come off the pill and want to regulate my periods a little first! I'm hoping to get caught straight away but I understand that things can take time! It's only been the last few months that I have decided I want a baby and my other half is over the moon about it! I am a little concerned about conceiving and keep thinking about if I have any issues with my bits as I have been on the pill 10 years! Hence going for a smear test tomorrow. If something doesn't look quite right down below will they tell me and refer me on?

to get refered u will of been needing to ttc for at least a yr x

I think you guys are a perfect age!! We are older (I'm 29, OH is 38) and I would have loved to started trying at your age!! Good luck with it, and with the smear. Yes, if the smear finds anything then they will tell you and what happens next, I'm sure it'll be fine tho

I was 26 when Earl was born (25 when we conceived). I had a mix of comments - mainly I think because hubby and I had been married for 2 years and are pretty much the same age (he's 5 months younger lol). Some said we needed to 'enjoy just being married', others said that the 'clock was ticking'. My Grandmother had 3 children, 2 in her mid-20s (23 and 26) and then her third at 44!!!! There are 21 years and 21 days between my Dad and my Uncle!!! My grandmother actually said that it was easier to get PG in her 40s as she wasn't actually 'trying' so there wasn't any stress lol. Apparently it was the 1st time they though 'you're too old, we'll not bother' lol :haha:

I think people's views are all different! I just can't wait to become a mum I've already looked at nursery furniture and prams and keep talking about it!

From what I understand, if a man can still get his babies to you, he still has them. ;)

People are saying your old at 26?! ... Whaaa lol.

Your still a spring chicken and so is your OH :) I'm 22 and my OH is 36 and we are trying - I wouldnt let anyone stop me, age shouldnt be important.
