Hi need a little help please. I've been using clearblue digital ovulation tests just to try and get an idea of what my cycles are like for when we start trying. Anyway, I've had a couple of weird ones with this batch. I did a few at the beginning of the week and they were negative (empty circle) but when I ejected the stick I noticed that the test line was smudgy (not really a line at all) So anyway I did one at about 6pm yesterday and I got a smiley face, but when I ejected it the test line was smudgy again. I did another one at about 10pm and it was negative (empty circle again) So my question is, do you think I had my lh surge or is there something wrong with the tests? It's the right time in my cycle to ovulate, and yesterday when I checked my cm I had the tiniest but of blood in it and it was stretchy, but this cycle has been weird. I got a bit of brown spotting at the beginning of it, which I got when I first came off the pill. I'm hoping everythings ok and I ovulated.
I've never had a problem with the clearblue diigital ovulation tests before. In fact they've always been completely accurate. I called the clearblue helpline this morning and the woman I spoke to seems to think I detected my lh surge. She said the smudging can happen because the test can get flooded with urine and try to dip it next time, but just wondering if anyone on here has had any experience with this kind of thing?
Thanks for your help xx

(Btw I just accidentally postedthis in introduce yourself too :wacko:)

the test arent for you to read its for the tester to read.. it wont be like reading a regular opk

When I ejected mine, I noticed smudging too. I believe it detected your LH surge as well. :)

also the reason it could have been positive then negative is because your lh surge might have only lasted a couple of hours. i always use first response for opks to read so i use my clearblue digital and my first response. (i always dip mine by the way) if you get a smiley that was your lh surge. goodluck (also after your positive you can ovulate anytime between 24-72 hours after)

Thankyou for your help. We're not TTc for another 2months, but just really hoping my cycles are ok and I'm ovulating properly. It's so tempting to do the bd when you think your ovulating though lol

true i totally understand... this has been a 5 year journey for me so i know how it all goes... goodluck though

Was your smudged line dark or could you not tell? Mine was so smudged it didn't really make a line

i had one so smudged i couldnt see a line either.. then after a while there was only one line... after everything faded a couple days later... i love the clearblue digital dont get me wrong they just are not good for detecting ovulation... they will just show smileys whereas the other ovulation test show you lines that you can actually read and pinpoint your highest lh surge. (sorry to butt in lol)

&& thanks

Mine was so smudged I couldn't see a line, just smudging of color. I still got a positive with it though.

And I understand completely how hard it is to not :sex: when you're ovulating, even if you're not TTC yet. April we were TTA but I almost broke down suddenly and was like, "No don't put the condom on." But we both knew it was for the best to wait that last month, and I'm glad I did. If I had been pregnant + seasick on the cruise, I think it would have been worse. LOL.

Good luck!!

Aw thanks to both of you, hopefully that was my surge and I did ovulate then. Swanxxsong, I'm in exactly the same boat you were lol We've got 2 and a bit months to our wedding and I really don't want to have morning sickness on the big day. Also we're going to the Maldives for our honeymoon and I'd be so worried about what I was eating etc if I was pregnant. Don't think that'd be good for a little bean. Not long to go now, just hope my cycles are nice and regular and fingers crossed we'll make a little baby on our honeymoon :). Lots of baby dust to both of you xx
