I've just recently started combination feeding my LO, she has one or two FF in the eve/night as well as me BF during the day. She is now 7 weeks old and we are using aptimal 1.

My question to you experienced ladies is... what happens to their poo on FF? She has now started to have only one poo a day but it's a huge runny affair! This morning she had awful trapped wind for hours and then did the biggest poo I've ever seen, a full jar of korma sauce may as well have been poured in her nappy!

This has been happening for the last few days, just one big poo a day, generally at about the same time each day, when she used to go a little bit every feed when she was only BF. Is this a normal thing or is it diarrhea? Should I be worried? Other than the trapped wind she gets she is happy and all the other nappies are wet ones.

Any help would be great, im not sure if it's normal or if I should call the drs?

Aptamil is well known for causing large messy poos, it's one of the benefits as other formulas often make babies constipated (SMA used to make my first born constipated)

We use Aptamil stage 1 and Evie does 1 very large chicken korma style poo every other day. Sometimes every day. Sometimes they're like peanut butter

Tis all perfectly normal :)

thanks for replying, it's interesting you list it as a benefit! although I was expecting my LO's poos to solid up not get runnier. I am presuming it is better than constipation though.

Is the trapped wind all part of it too? And what can I do about it? She was in such pain but every time she cried she farted, so it was kinda helping her by letting her cry!

I also do a combo feed.. bf and top up with Apitimal formula during the day and mostly FF at night.

Our little one is now 12 weeks and in the past week or so his poos have also gone from mostly after each feed to one massive one either once a day or once every two days.
Was worried at first when he hadnt pooed for over 48 hrs but then read up that once babies digestive systems develop their poos also start being less in a day.
He also did a massive Korma one this morning (ha that made me laugh when I read that) and I think its all normal.
Aptimal is meant to be the best as it doesnt give the LO's the constipation that the others do, plus Ive found that with infacol in the bottle in the feed he hasnt had any colic either which by all accounts can be quite distressing for the LO.

hope this helps!!

Same as mynx- our anna does one big chicken korma style poo a day.

Anna has been timing it right over the last couple of days - just as her daddy gets home from work:thumbup:

i wondered about this. My Lo was on breast milk with combination of ready made formula and over the last week has now been constantly on the powdered make up yourself formula feed. The amount of poo is normal for him atm its just the colour im questioning as its like the mustard yellow colour before we had but seems to be greeny also like a mushy pea colour, is this normal for this type of feed now.

LO is on Aptamil & it's also one massive poo in the morning after he takes half of his morning bottle.

Yup my FF LO does one big Korma poo a day! Sometimes one jumbo jar every other day :D lol

My LO was Pooing every other day, now its everyday, and hes on cow & gate.

But... As soon as i smell poo, i rush him upstairs to change him, thing is, he does a tiny bit, so i can smell it, then leaves the rest till i pull his nappy off :(.
i have to stand there with a nappy under his bum for 5 mins!

I think i'm put off curry tooo!
